Wide trousers in the autumn-winter collections

How it all began

One of the first wide trousers was put on by Coco Chanel: the designer, who was known as one of the main feminists in the history of fashion (in fact, she was not), went to the white palazzo in the 1920s. Then they were worn in the 1940s - in this type of trousers it was convenient for women to work in factories during World War II. In the next decade, couturiers seek to re-emphasize the female figure - at least remember the new look of Christian Dior. So they forget about wide trousers - with the light hand of actress Audrey Hepburn, the girls change them for tight "pipes" and "cigarettes". Trousers, flared from the hip, are returned thanks to designer Yves Saint Laurent, who dresses girls in wide-brimmed hats, voluminous colored fur coats and the same palazzo.

Most contemporary designers are inspired by the next decade — the 1980s. Then the women put on like men's suits: long, spacious jackets with wide, straight trousers. Now the fashion of that time is copied by completely different brands: this is Balmain, literally quoting the eighties with the TV series "Dynasty", and Céline, recalling the images of the strong women of the era.

How to wear wide trousers

Italian Antonio Marras and Frenchman Christophe Lemaire show high-waisted suit pants, they combine them with straight elongated jackets. The suit, but not of a standard costume fabric, but of thick wool with a tropical print, is made by Dries van Notein. Chloé and Eudon Choi create matte-skinned trousers, which are worn with cozy knitted sweaters and scarves. Meadham Kirchhoff adds a cropped tweed jacket to lacquer wide trousers - apparently, this is a nod of the British avant-garde duet towards Coco Chanel. Non-standard fabrics are used: Sacai sews like pajama trousers from iridescent silk, and Sonia Rykiel sew wide pink trousers from mohair.

BEWARE!

We will not be the first to advise to choose shoes with high heels for wide trousers - boats will be appropriate both with elegant silk and ordinary dress trousers. However, sometimes you can forget about the restrictions and wear such pants, as all stylists have long advised, with massive loafers or even flat sandals.
