London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum soap opera
The Burberry show, the most important and successful British fashion house, this time was taken to Kensington Gardens. As company employees told us, this is due to the fact that with each season more and more visitors are shown at the show. A giant tent was erected especially for the show - it took about a month. I must say that building something like this in the park is never allowed to anyone, however, they made an exception for the main British brand. Black awning along with black figures of guests and staff was visible from afar - to the delight of tourists, who gladly photographed visiting celebrities, from TV presenter Alexa Chung to the wife of British Prime Minister Samantha Cameron.
Burberry has a lot of opportunities like no one else. They are ahead of all in terms of technology: this show, like the previous ones, was broadcast live on the Internet, and at the same time on the screen installed in Piccadilly Circus. Needless to say, WiFi worked on the show. Like last time, things from the new collection can be ordered immediately - they will be produced within seven weeks, which is incredibly fast, considering how difficult many items from the new collection are in manufacturing - for example, knitted sweaters with fur inserts or coats, fabrics for which weaved on specially restored for this machine tools 50-ies.
Actually, the entire collection inspired by the 60s was lined up around the coat. Commercially, this is a win-win move: the British (and most Europeans) spend most of the year in a coat, and this is a subject that should be of high quality and in which you can and should be invested (especially if the subject is a stunning scarlet, deep purple or turquoise). Although Suzy Menkes scolds Bailey in a rather sharp recall, saying that his new collection is intended for London mothers, his thoughts can be understood.
The show itself is becoming more and more exciting each time. On the podium - Jordan Dunn, Arizona Muse, Anais Pullo, Abby Lee Kershaw, Caroline Brah Nielsen, and after the constellation is in the final, dressed in rabbit caps and transparent Dodzheviki capes, soft snow begins to fall from the ceiling, turns out to be soap flakes.
