Vampire Noir "Hunger": A Guide to the Gothic and Fashion 80s
We pay much attention to trends and modern fashion, but it should be understood that they are only guidelines that each interprets in its own way. The style is shaped, among other things, by the influence of the surrounding reality and culture, including art, films or video clips. From time to time we analyze works from which one can draw a lot of knowledge about the fashion of the epoch and adopt bright stylistic techniques applicable to the present day. This week we will talk about the movie "Hunger" - a reference vampire drama about loneliness, possession and eternity, filmed by Ridley Scott's younger brother Tony Scott. This is a classic Gothic film, surprisingly balancing on the verge of vulgarity, but never sliding into it. “Hunger” is visually more like a video clip than a movie, and perfectly aligned shots play a decisive role in it.
The film begins with a cult scene in a nightclub: the endlessly beautiful characters Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie look out for victims to the music of Bauhaus and later deal with them in their posh home. The plot of “Hunger” twists around the sudden aging and fading of the main character against the background of the early 80s with hairstyles typical for that time, large brooches, round glasses and high jeans. We chose 10 stylistic techniques that can be learned from the characters of the film and immediately put into practice.
Arrange your home so that it wants to live forever. And get luxury home clothes.
In any strange situation, rely on bright earrings. They are able to add chic to the simplest outfit.
Black leather, tights in the net, high heels - hypersexualized things do not lose their relevance. The main thing is to combine them with neutral objects.
Laconic formal suits or sensual silk blouses that open the neck - why choose one?
The 80s are not only disco and sparkles, but also “new romantics” with androgyny and grotesque aristocracy. Finding a mother's leather cape at the cottage is the best idea for autumn.
Crazy rim, leather hat, pie and veil are best combined with unshakable confidence in their own choice.
An unusual collar is able to correct the impression of the most inconspicuous costume. In the past weeks of fashion, many designers have made a bet on a stand-up collar.
Red lipstick with a graphic contour looks absolutely gorgeous at all.
A loose jacket and wide trousers are a choice for all times. This proves not only the heroine Susan Sarandon, but also the latest collections of famous brands.
Sometimes a white T-shirt can say more than any special effects.
