10 warm and fresh winter scents for your home

In this weather, which is now, Coziness and warmth want even the most brutal of us. The easiest way to ensure this comfort quickly and easily is to light a pleasant scented candle. Moore Sobolev, editor-in-chief of the Fierce & Cute blog and a self-proclaimed expert on brutality, gathered ten candles for the cold season.

Elemis Scent of Spa

The British brand Elemis, which specializes in expensive high-tech skin care products, made a big 40-hour burning candle for Christmas. She sits in a heavy purple glass cup and smells like it should smell inside the film "Real Love", that is, an English Christmas: needles, oranges, spices and cinnamon stick, which Rowan Atkinson put in a gift bag to nervous Alan Rickman. The candle is already sold in a festive box, so as a gift to someone especially pleasant, it is perfect. And you can keep yourself: there will be an excellent olfactory accompaniment of Christmas songs, Christmas tree decorations and other seasonal troubles.

L'Occitane Rameaux d'Hiver

When it comes to idle cosmetic pleasures and pure uncomplicated pampering, L'Occitane is my absolute favorite. I have loved their body and soul products for many years, but I discovered the fragrances for the house relatively recently. The brand has quite a lot of them, and there are sprays and diffusers, but I haven’t yet reached such a master zen and prefer candles. Of those that I have, the ideal option for cold weather seems this Rameaux d'Hiver, smelling of a pine forest, but not frosty, but somehow warmed up. The candle is compact, small (although it is promised that it will be enough for as long as 20 hours), and I like that it is not packed in a glass, but in a tin box with a lid: aesthetes can carry with them, and practical citizens will rejoice that in the intervals between aromatherapy sessions candle will not dust.

Jo Malone London Lavender & Lovage

I suspect that I am not the only Jo Malone fan who loves the brand not only directly for the products, but also for the very image of the brand. Jo Malone is the quintessence of careless British aristocracy, unbanal simplicity and relaxation, which only people who have a life, obviously, have been able to afford, can afford. Jo Malone's candles (this one, with lavender and lovable, bitter clean smell of wet herbs) is even better than the brand’s fragrances, capable of focusing on reincarnation. You take off the black bow, open the metal cover, light a candle - and now you are no longer in a rented Moscow apartment, where it would be good to sweep the floors, but somewhere in a cool, but cozy house overlooking Regents Park.

Joik cranberry spice

I love the Estonian natural brand Joik, in particular, for the fact that thanks to her, I once became generally interested in home fragrances. Joik has a very simple design: ordinary glass cups, one wick, nothing special - but at the same time a large assortment, high-quality wax, and the smells are complex and interesting. Cranberry Spice, smelling of spicy berry mulled wine, is my favorite candle for a wet season, I am burning its shore and taking it a little when there is not enough comfort and warmth. In Joik's candlelight, I like that even in a small room and even before bedtime, they can be burned long enough without the risk of getting a migraine, and it’s nice that in more than two years my specimens have not lost the intensity of the flavor.

Yves Rocher "Caramel Apple"

Democratic French brand every year produces a giant Christmas collection, consisting of several lines, one of which necessarily includes candles. This year one of the Christmas episodes is devoted to a caramel apple; I have several products with this scent, including a candle. The apple of Yves Rocher turned out to be a little chemical, but, on the other hand, the real caramel apple is also usually not natural with its natural taste and aroma, so there is authenticity. Candles at Yves Rocher smell is not particularly intense, so they suit most those who like to have only a hint of smell in the air, and not those who prefer the aroma to be felt from the landing.

Bath & Body Works Twisted Peppermint

The range of Bath & Body Works is extremely diverse, I love there is not all, but the Christmas collections, mixing warm gourmet and icy "snowy" flavors, I invariably really like. I would love to collect them all, but this, alas, does not contribute to the rise in price of candles to the offensive amounts that do not tally with the democratic image of the brand. The cold mint smell of Twisted Peppermint will probably sound good in summer, when you want to refresh yourself, but for some reason I prefer to burn this candle in winter. It smells like candy cane mint candies, which, due to cultural realities, are not associated with Christmas, but also with fresh snow and sweet icing on the cake - the result is a surprisingly festive aroma.

Kobo Candles Artemisian Lemongrass

The fashionable American eco-friendly brand deals exclusively with candles and does it well: at Kobo Candles they smell magically, are beautifully decorated, and there are a lot of them in the assortment of the brand (and descriptions are such that I want to try everything). My new favorite is this Artemisian Lemongrass in a jolly green box. According to the name, the smell of the candle is vigorous, fresh and herbal, lemon-spicy. Perhaps it would be more logical to burn it in spring and summer, but I like to use Artemisian Lemongrass now, when I had already forgotten how real greens smell from the market, a park after a rain, and other things that people need to smell go crazy when it gets dark already at three o'clock in the afternoon.

Amouage happy

The outstanding perfume house Amouage was founded by the Sultan of Oman in 1983 and was originally intended to revive the great oriental perfume traditions. He is doing it with varying degrees of success even now, but one should not expect from home fragrances that they will turn the notorious Moscow apartment into a solemn prayer room or into a sheikh’s palace: the home fragrances line was launched relatively recently, after the brand headed for rejuvenation and Europeanization. My Happy candle (the fragrance also exists as a spray for indoor use) is an interesting combination of spicy and floral notes, among which are carnation and heliotrope. The smell turned out bright, but not overtightening all the attention on themselves - in principle, a good fragrance should behave for the house.

Jardins d'Écrivans Le Jardin de Tolstoï

I am very fond of the bibliophilic perfume brand Jardins d'Écrivans, which endows the scents of various geniuses of world literature - from George Sand to William Burroughs. In addition to decent perfume, the brand also produces candles - among them there are many very pretty ones, but I have only one, Le Jardin de Tolstoï, which seems to me to be a real masterpiece. This candle, dedicated to Yasnaya Polyana and its bearded owner, smells like tar, wood and leather, and I scared to dream that Jardins d'Écrivans would release this fragrance in the form of cologne - I will always wear it. In the meantime, I am burning a candle: she, by the way, has a comfortable, lightweight glass and an excellent twisting lid, so this is an ideal option for traveling.

Acqua di parma rose buds

I love the brand Acqua di Parma with its imposing Mediterranean chic, and I dream of collecting everything I have everything I do (I don’t even give up the Collezione Barbiere, which includes only shaving accessories). The main thing for my Italian favorites is, of course, the aromas, but I can't help but admire their candles, especially the series where the buds and pieces of leaves are fused into the wax. My only candle is with a rose of insane beauty. It costs, of course, inhuman, but, firstly, these candles are of enormous size, and secondly, the consumption, I suppose, will be extremely economical. I suppose, because until now I have never used it: the candle smells devastatingly, being simply extracted from the wrapping film. I don't even know which rose garden will bloom in my house when I finally light it.
