Bermuda Shorts in Spring-Summer Collections

How it all began
Bermuda shorts entered the female wardrobe at the beginning of the 20th century. At about the same time, when the skirt turned into culottes, which we recently talked about. However, the Bermuda shorts themselves with pockets and knee-length are a direct borrowing from the men's wardrobe. They were invented in the 19th century as a uniform for the hard worker, working in the tropical and desert territories of the British colonies - in Africa and Bermuda. By the 20s of the last century, the Bermudas had firmly entered men's wardrobe as everyday clothes and wore them with golf - in Bermuda such shorts are still considered business clothes for men. At first women used Bermudas for bathing, but by the 50s they began to wear them on a par with men. In the late 80s basketball shorts sunk into the soul of hip-hop fans and fans of the three strips of adidas and thus, thanks to sport and music, gradually migrated to the wardrobe of modern girls.
How To Wear Bermuda Shorts Now
One of the first midi length shorts and capri pants was brought back to life by Alexander Wang in the Balenciaga-2014 cruise collection, proving that a panama shirt and elongated shorts can and should be worn with jackets, shirts and birkenstocks. The length of the midi to the knee or just below the knee is still the most relevant (skirts, culottes, coats and dresses of this length are present in new collections here and there), and even a logical one in the background of a gender jumble. Girls every year more boldly borrow things from the men's wardrobe - no wonder that it came to medium-length basketball shorts, which can be worn with a shirt and heels, and with a strict jacket, top and boots. It happened not without the influence of celebrities, such as Rita Ora, but the fact that this style has already become a common affair is confirmed by photos of residents of East London, who boldly combine men's sports shorts with furs and tights. In general, whatever sportphobia you are, this fashion trend should be kept in mind.
Luxury brands quickly reacted to the trend, showing their versions of Bermudas, the price of which, of course, differs from the value of those that can be found in men's collections - for example, adidas Originals and Supreme. First of all, American designers showed midi length shorts. Thus, 3.1 Phillip Lim included Bermudas in all his latest collections: in the cruise and spring - shorts with geometric perforations, fringe, as well as translucent in combination with elongated jackets and summer bomber jackets. Wool bermudas can be found in the Fillip Lima FW14 collection paired with lace-up boots. Lim used the same technique on the 2015 cruise of the future, where he added shorts with gladiator shoes. Alexander Wang showed woolen bermuda shorts with patch pockets paired with voluminous jackets and waist bags. Wang has shorts on the 2015 cruise: with a tie-dai effect and patch pockets made of leather, and, paradoxically, again paired with lace-up boots — obviously, you can already wear this combination on your mustache.
Marc Jacobs released models on the catwalk in bermuda shorts with a low waist in both seasons: in the spring - in combination with hussar jackets of exaggerated volumes and coarse shoes, in the fall - with shirts in sequins, transparent turtlenecks and translucent tights. For the second line of Marc by Marc Jacobs, creative directors of the brand Katie Hillier and Luell Bartley put models in basketball shorts and massive lace-up sneakers, complementing the outfit with wide belts and voluminous things.
British designers also showed their versions of elongated shorts. Nazir Mazhar - classic basketballs, from which the gum of underwear juts out, exactly like in the 90s the members of the TLC group wore. Ashish included boxing shorts from ripped denim and sequins in their collection, adding massive t-shirts and t-shirts to them in both the spring and autumn collections of 2014. In addition, Jil Sander showed monochrome color shorts in combination with shoes and clothes to match the tone. Kenzo has included embroidered denim shorts in this year’s summer collection. Bermuda is available in Acne, McQ Alexander McQueen, Opening Ceremony, Jonathan Simkhai and Jil Sander Navy cruise collections in 2015. Watch out!
Long shorts are contraindicated for girls of short stature, although a high heel can somewhat correct the situation, as well as to all those who are over-exaggerated things are not very suitable due to figure flaws. The rest of the basketball shorts can and should be worn until the sporty style doesn’t bristle about what will happen, obviously, in a year.
