Director Nadya Bedzhanova about favorite outfits
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE"we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is a young director from Moscow, Nadya Bedzhanova, who now lives in New York. She told us about shopping from skate shops, the love of Victoria's Secret lingerie and the style of New Yorkers.
Jaded London tracksuit, YRU shoes, RIPNDIP beanie
The costume was purchased during the evening installation work. There was a lot of work, and I didn’t want to stop shopping. Online shopping came to the rescue. As a result, I do not get out of this suit. A beanie with a cat was sold at the The Good Company skate clothing store, which is located on the Lower East Side, in the next doorway to my house. In general, I often go there to grab at least something - the store's range changes very quickly.
Topshop jacket, Forever 21 dress, VIVA VOX hat, shoes from a strip shop
When I want to look presentable, I put on this elongated milk-white jacket. I also love to wear it with adidas sport shorts. The most interesting thing in this image is the shoes that my boyfriend and I bought at night in Miami, in the shop of defiant shoes on Collins Avenue. I liked their color, and my dear friend, my new height.
Victoria's Secret bra, jeans Uniqlo, Mango jacket, shoes Marc by Marc Jacobs, purse COMME des GARÇONS
Victoria's Secret is my favorite brand of underwear: you can buy luxury items for 50 bucks. I also have Agent Provocauter, but Victoria's Secret is more accessible and their choice of wearable sexual underwear is simply huge.
The shoes were bought in Los Angeles, in the favorite store of my friend Fox Marc by Marc Jacobs. Since I have a complicated relationship with colored things, and I could not leave without a purchase, I was glad to get these universal shoes. Laconic wallet COMME des GARÇONS - a gift of a boyfriend.
Michael Kors Jumpsuit, Jeffrey Campbell Footwear, VIVA VOX Hat
Michael Kors Jumpsuit is my favorite thing in the wardrobe. Even in New York, I am influenced by the principles of the Moscow party: always choose black. The jumpsuit is incredibly comfortable and made of pleasant material, it looks stylish and is suitable for any event - in general, the very same win-win option.
Oddly enough, Jeffrey Campbell is one of the most comfortable shoe brands, and all their crazy heels are incredibly comfortable. I can take place in this pair all day. Hat VIVA VOX selected from her best friend. This thing is to face absolutely everything and makes any image complete. In New York, people often wonder who the designer hats are, and I proudly call our compatriot's brand.
Ralph Lauren jacket, Topshop jeans, American Apparel T-shirt, YRU shoes, A Thousand Picnics pendant
In my wardrobe there are two oversize denim jackets Ralph Lauren and both with American symbols. The first - with a huge faded print of the American flag in front, and this one, the second - with stars on the sleeves. Both instantly turn you into a “bad ass,” so many Americans respect when they see me in one of them. Topshop jeans are one of the favorite things in the wardrobe. Ragged knees will never become a move.
I call this pair of shoes "I don't care." Sometimes I put it on parties and concerts, when I want to be taller, so that the crowd does not block the stage. I'm not a big fan of accessories, so I don’t have many of them. This is my only suspension. The jewelry was bought in a small A Thousand Picnics accessories store in front of my old house in Williamsburg.
ASOS Costume, American Apparel T-shirt, ASOS Goggles, New Balance Sneakers, Casio Watch
I usually don’t risk buying bright things because I don’t know how or I’m afraid to combine colors. I try to limit myself to black, white and beige colors. When I saw this suit on ASOS, I immediately wanted to pick it up in my wardrobe. The purchase was delivered in exactly two days. Since then, it has become very difficult not to abuse online shopping.
The sneakers were bought at Sneaker Shop New Balance on Fifth Avenue, in which sneakers with a new design appear every month. I bought my own in July, in the month of US Independence Day, right when New Balance was made in blue, white and red.
DKNY jacket, Zara leggings, SENSO Diffusion shoes, Michael Kors watches, American Apparel glasses
One of my favorite features of New York is the ability to dress as I want. You know that you will never catch a judging glance at yourself, because the New Yorkers themselves tend to look even more extravagant. However, they do not bother and do not condemn each other. My parents were skeptical about this freedom in choosing clothes when they visited me for the first time. Therefore, for my birthday, I was presented with a Michael Kors watch and this wonderful DKNY jacket. I am madly in love with a jacket and I feel very confident in it.
Leggings leatherette Zara - one of the budget purchases, they are great for parties. Look cool and dirty is not a pity. SENSO Diffusion shoes were bought at the Shoe Market in Williamsburg after my best friend, who wore only sneakers, bought “adult” shoes. I looked at him, thought, and also decided to change the conversions to more impressive shoes.
Topshop Dress, Topshop Slip-on Sneakers, Monki Nicole Backpack, RIPNDIP Badge
Topshop is my favorite mass-market mark. The trapezoid dress was bought for the premiere of my first short film at the DGA in New York. In combination with a jacket and heels, it becomes an evening dress, and with slip-ons - everyday. The backpack was ordered on the ASOS website, the badge on it is a gift from a boyfriend.
Second jacket, H & M skirt, American Apparel T-shirt, Steve Madden shoes
This German jacket is the only thing I bought in second-hand. I never understood and hardly understand the cult of worn things, but this thing is an exception. She is brand new and was found in a store in Provincetown, Massachusetts, for just seven dollars! The shoes look like a second-hand, but they have worn out on their own, which makes me happy: the longer I wear it, the cooler it looks.
Jacket Unruly Heir, Forever 21 dress, Massimo Dutti shoes
Unruly Heir woolen jacket was a bonus to the fee for the promotional video for the same brand. The jacket was slightly flooded with alcohol, because we shot the video in the format of a three-day party at a ski resort. This thing constantly reminds me of that carefree time. The peculiarity and value of the jacket is that it is lined with a print with the streets of my favorite areas of New York: Lower East Side and Chinatown.
The little black dress Forever 21 was bought for twenty dollars, serves not the first season and goes well with absolutely everything. It’s hard to find simple black clothes in Forever 21, and I was very pleased with this random purchase. Massimo Dutti shoes were bought in Berlin. One more "adult" boots.
Scotch & Soda
Men's Scotch & Soda leather jacket is a thing that is appropriate in any season and in any weather. Thanks to this jacket, I can not wear backpacks, because everything you need quietly fits in your pockets. The leather was bought at the Atrium store in SoHo, New York.
Rockwell by Parra and Supreme caps
Every self-respecting mod must have at least one Supreme cap. I have two, although I love Rockwell more.
American Apparel Bag, Super 8 Camera, Gilles Deleuze's Icons and Book "Cinema"
Badges with ass and handcuffs - from the skate clothing store The Good Company, in which I have become a regular since the opening.
Collection of badges
A crystal badge is a gift from a Atmos store in Harlem. The rest are from skate shops.
Katie Kansas Shoulders
Shoulders I bought at an electronic music festival in Miami.
