Polo: a new look at sports t-shirt

How it all began

A unisexual polo t-shirt came into vogue thanks to tennis in the late 20s. In 1952, English tennis player Frederick Perry offered his version of the polo, and in 1972 the American designer Ralph Lauren. Moreover, by the 70th the polo had become part of the obligatory Ivy League form and since then it has been firmly associated with the style of dressing "decently" and "perfectly well". Recall, at least, the style of the characters of The Tenenbaum Family.

How to wear polo now

Polo is a simple thing, so today brands try to level this simplicity with interesting materials and details. Proenza Schouler shows a knitted polo in combination with a midi skirt and sandals on a heel, MSGM - lacy and transparent. Christopher Caine puts on a polo leopard print, and Lacoste - large inscriptions. Alexander Wang and Carven interpret a polo dress, using technological fabrics. Public School is styled in a polo dress, wearing it over loose trousers. Combined polo, by and large, with everything from sports shorts to pants. Win-win is a short trapezoid skirt, shorts or wide trousers. A more risky idea is a polo under an elongated jacket or with a pencil skirt and culottes. Beware

The main feature of polo is landing. Fitted options should be avoided: they look old-fashioned and refer to the Russian resort fashion of the early 2000s. Today, the actual polo in the men's style, namely the free straight cut. Also look for a polo made of unusual fabrics - laced and transparent. So, a completely transparent polo can be worn over the dress on thin straps. If in your arsenal there is only a basic polo shirt in a shape, for example, white, wear it with wide trousers or bermuda shorts and flat sandals.
