December - time to sum up the year, and for this we turned to our readers. We announced "VKontakte" voting in seven categories: "Event of the Year", "Person of the Year", "Heshteg of the Year", "Sexism of the Year", "Serial of the Year", "Telegram of the Year" and "Russian Song of the Year". It's time to announce the winners.
Event of the year
This year there were a lot of high-profile events, but our readers settled on one thing - the US elections (half of the participants cast their votes). No wonder: this is the first American presidential campaign in our life, which took place with the most powerful involvement of social networks and compromising materials, gender policy and sexist scandals. In addition, the reaction to the statements and actions of American candidates can be judged on the processes taking place in our own country.
Person of the year
At the forefront of almost any social change are people - those whom we admire, whom we discuss, or whom we do not even guess. Our readers chose Hillary Clinton as the heroine of the year - a participant in the main political race of the year, which could become the first female president of the United States, but lost to Donald Trump. In second place was Bob Dylan - the most unexpected winner of the Nobel Prize in literature.
Hashtag of the year
Every day a few tags are knocked out at the top of each social network, and it’s impossible to remember them all by the end of the year, but some cannot be missed: they marked important changes in the world. This is what the hashtag # ЯNeBeSuit to say - the action launched by the Ukrainian activist, which reached an incredible scale: thousands of women told about how they were subjected to violence and harassment. He gave our readers an unconditional first place.
Series of the year
It's time to admit: we are watching the serial news almost more actively than the movie premieres. This year turned out to be rich in interesting series - both the leading channels and services like Netflix and Amazon. The first place in our voting went to the Netflix show “Very Strange Things”, where a child disappears from the plot in a small town and the police, mother and school friends rush to search for him, and at some point she is joined by a shaved girl with super abilities. If you have not had time to see it, it's time to do it for the holidays.
Telegram channel of the year
2016 will be remembered by us as a real boom of Telegram channels - minimalistic blogs, where the author can write what he pleases, but subscribers can only read, but not comment. Our readers unconditionally gave first place to don't touch my face - the petrophysicist Adel Miftakhova channel. In a blog, Adel talks about skin care and cosmetics from a scientific standpoint: how does SPF work, is it possible to use acids in summer, how to wash properly and whether the “cruelty-free” mark on a can really means that the product has not been tested on animals.
Russian song of the year
Among the Russian-language hits of this year, our readers have chosen the Intro of the Ukrainian group Mushrooms. This is logical: this black-and-white clip for the year at least once (or even more) looked almost everyone. The second position was taken by rapper Tatarka - her debut video "Altyn", released at the end of the year, has already collected more than nine million views on YouTube.
Sexism of the year
Alas, in 2016 it is still impossible to speak about full equality. But there is also good news: the manifestations of blatant sexism began to cause a noticeable public outcry. This happens, for example, with the winner of this nomination, Donald Trump: #NotOkay was held after his statements about sexual harassment in the United States - American women were told how they became victims of violence and harassment. In addition to Trump, our readers were outraged by the school of sports journalism for men only, opened by Vasily Utkin - she was given second place.
