Richard Trovatten, a student at the Strelka Institute
A new rubric is launched on Wonderzine, in which we will focus on studying interesting young people. It is important to us not only what they look like, but also what is in their head and the closet. The first hero in our field of vision is the Dane Richard Trovatten, who decided to move to Moscow to take part in improving the life of the city. We came to visit Richard and asked him about his childhood, favorite music, goals in life and the size of his legs.
I first came to Moscow at the beginning of 2009, but it was rather an accident - I somehow did not find a place in Copenhagen, I wanted to grab everything. This time I understand that everything is not just like that. Moscow is a terrific city for young people who itch their hands. In many places where I lived, everything is too orderly. A city like Copenhagen is too well equipped, it has nothing to improve. The system simply guides you along some predetermined paths. But in Moscow there are gaps and space for experiments. As soon as you understand how and where to find them, immediately there will be a mass of interesting ideas and opportunities.
In general, I was born in Esbjerg, it is the fifth largest city in Denmark, but according to the Russian scale - the village. Grew up with mom and younger brother, we lived in the back of my mother's health goods store, it was something else an adventure. To open such a shop was not the most brilliant idea in a city like Esbjerg, but somehow my mother managed to put everything on her feet. She is generally something. Not sure that I had idols in my childhood. Well, except that Michael Jackson, I had a bunch of his concerts on video tapes, I watched and tried to imitate him. True, I do not think that I wanted to be him - I just liked how cool he moves.
The hardest thing I've ever had to do was close my first company. This is one of those things that should not have happened - we could continue to work further, and I invested a lot in developing the idea, but at some point it seemed to me that I was cornered. And as soon as I made a decision and said: "To hell, I will try something else," my life has changed dramatically. I think it taught me a lot ... and surely my friends will say that it became much easier with me.
I mostly go to the countries where my friends live, so first of all I go to them and eat somewhere. I am a tourist, I always miss the Museum or the famous building that everyone should see. So on trips, I prefer to do basic, ordinary things. Even a little work. If you choose between parties and get-togethers, I would rather choose the first. I really like to go somewhere and meet new people. I also love dinner parties, they are somehow not enough. If my friends are reading this, then hey, let's have more dinners!
Recently, almost do not watch movies. I'm not a loyal fan of TV shows, but more recently the situation has begun to change. I do not even know what to think about it. It seems that over the past year I have watched more TV shows than ever. For example, House of Cards and The Newsroom are awesome. Looked Californication and even Girls - he suddenly turned out to be cool. And, yes, I also watch every episode of The Daily Show. This is my guilty pleasure. Sometimes I miss one or two issues, but then I watch three at once.
This spring I left for two months to travel around America, and when I returned - this guy was here. Friends lived here instead of me, apparently, they left him here. My friends will kill me for this photo. I have been without mobile for a couple of years. My mother gave it to me, but I use it only to listen to music when I run. I'm a student now, that is, I do not need to be constantly in touch with someone. Gives a feeling of freedom, well, and helps to better organize your time. Tutorials "Arrows"; I was given a gold chain at a party, and I bought a hat to a friend who likes these. I always use Angry Birds, they say it is the best shampoo in the world. This is the bowels of our refrigerator, all the notes are from my neighbor, she glues them to remember what products bought a laptop, a kitchen table, some Russian chocolates. Uh ... boots. I bought this T-shirt after I went to the Basquiat exhibition in New York, he was a cool guy. When I moved to Moscow, I wanted to find a box club, but everyone was kinda too expensive. So a friend lent me these sneakers, and I now run a couple of times a week.Photographer: Ivan Guschin
