Oh gods: Cosmetics based on ancient myths

Text: Moore Sobolev

AUTHOR BLOG FIERCE & CUTE Moore Sobolev once a week makes for us a thematic selection of products from his extensive collection of cosmetics. Nail polishes, fragrances, lipsticks and eyeliners, the names of which are inspired by Greek-Roman mythology, have got into today's.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick Pandore Lip Fluid

I really like the new "hybrids" Dior Addict Fluid Stick - this is not lipstick, not gloss, and even not quite liquid lipstick. They have a pleasant non-sticky water-based texture, a comfortable applicator and an indecently glossy shine, while they are sufficiently pigmented, which takes the Addict Fluid Stick into a fondant category. The hue of Pandore, which made up charming blonde Sasha Luss on advertising posters, is a cheerful, cheerful scarlet. It seems he is the most popular in the lineup, and deservedly so.

Eyeliner Urban Decay Mars

Probably, I’m already tired of everything with my passion for Urban Decay pencils, and I really try to write less about them, but sometimes they are too suitable for compilations and it’s hard to resist. Especially since the shade of Mars from the Ocho Loco 2 set is so beautiful - the metal is deep emerald green. As it turned out by experience, UD pencils withstand the forty-degree heat rather badly: in a lower eyelid they begin to blur in a while, but this does not prevent me from adoring them and buying them in tons.

Aroma Diptyque L'Eau des Hesperides

Bitter herbal cologne, as stated on the official website, invites you to the forbidden garden: the hesperides, to which the name of the fragrance refers, were the nymphs guarding the golden apples. The smell turned out quite severe, like his heroines, but at the same time quite delicate, which is generally characteristic of Diptyque. I love such combinations: the fragrance helps to open my eyes and concentrate, and, despite my attachment to heavy spicy perfumes, I usually choose such vigorous colognes in the mornings.

Lipstick Illamasqua Eurydice

My only lipstick is the beautiful British brand Illamasqua. I love her very much - she is wildly beautiful in color and is also named after Eurydice, the heroine of one of my favorite myths. The texture of the lipstick is very matte, completely opaque and rather dry, so lip balm before and after application is a must. The color is piercing, the brightest cold fuchsia, and that rare tone of it that seems to suit everyone: even the critical-minded girls go to MakeupAlley in unanimous delight.

Aroma Grès Mythos

Strictly speaking, this fragrance is not related to the Greco-Roman myths around which this collection revolves - Mythos is dedicated to Greta Garbo and, in general, to the best times that the Grès perfume house that created the great Cabochard perfume in 1959 knew. Mythos, released in 2009, was criticized by perfumery critics and, in general, for the cause: Greta Garbo would hardly have worn this quietest aquatic-iris creation. However, this does not negate the fact that the fragrance itself is glorious and touching, even if it is devoid of the volume that you expect from such a bottle and name.

Chanel Calypso Lip Gloss

Juicy orange shine from the lineup of Chanel Glossimer was released in the summer collection of 2012 and I really liked it. It is quite flattering, even for light skin, a hue (which is not always the case with such warm tones) —a dense peach-orange with small golden sparkles. The texture of Glossimer is rather sticky and, as they say, classic, but in this case I rather like it.

ZOYA Aurora nail polish

I love ZOYA varnishes very much - they have a comfortable brush and divinely beautiful non-ordinary shades. I especially like the "sand", the textured Pixie Dust series and the holographic varnishes that make the brand just fine, - you can admire the manicure done with their participation indefinitely as a kaleidoscope. Aurora is just such a magical pink-lilac holographic: you do not need a direct sun, a macro lens and centimeter-long fingernails to see all its multi-faceted beauty.

Etro Pegaso Scent

If anyone does not know, the brand Etro, in addition to all sorts of luxury goods, also produces niche perfumery, quite interesting and expensive. I have so far only two flavors, one of which is romantically named Pegaso in honor of the famous winged horse. It is a clear, transparent and piercing smell that turns out to be more complicated than it seems: under the original fresh citrus fruits, a sweetish iris-woody base is found. Pretty masculine, but gentle at the same time, so it will suit even girls who are afraid of colognes.

Lipstick MAC Odyssey

It is not known why this particular color has acquired the name of a great wanderer, but oh well. Odyssey is a plum-wine shade lipstick with a rather obvious shimmer, which is included in the permanent collection of the brand. Odyssey looks great in reviews of other bloggers, especially with dark skin, but for some reason personally, he turns me into a conditional aunt Lucy, rather than a beautiful Penelope. An impudent shimmer in combination with a complex tint gives just such an effect, but I do not give up: Odyssey is called one of the most beautiful autumn shades, and I still hope to tame it.

Penhaligon's Endymion Flavor

One of Penhaligon's one of the most popular men's fragrances - but I, of course, wear it myself, although it is so noble and calm that my dad will probably like it. Endymion is citrus-fresh at first and leather-spicy in the base (but without suffocation), which makes it completely versatile and does not deprive individuality. I like to think about the roots of this fragrance - it is named for Endymion, who was so beautiful that the moon goddess in love with him put him to sleep for simplicity and admired, instead of exhausting to sort things out. Sometimes I envy her methods.
