Vazovsky: Minimalist clothes from Petersburg

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" we represent young designers and tell where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is 18-year-old designer from St. Petersburg Christina Wazowski, who launched the brand with no experience or specialized education.

From school, Kristina Vazovski was accustomed to counting everything a couple of steps forward: at the age of 15 she graduated from high school and left for one of the educational programs in China to learn the language. Returning to St. Petersburg, the girl went about her own business - she opened the Vazovsky showroom in one of the art clusters of the city, where she sold things of little-known young European designers, as well as music, magazines and books.

Christina is now 18 years old, she is studying the history of art at the Sorbonne. Four months ago, she realized that she wanted to design clothes. Having set herself a task, Wazowski read hundreds of books and websites, studied the subtleties of work and, not being afraid of a lack of experience and specialized education, launched the Vazovsky clothing brand. She has already presented her first small collection of nine bows, New Minimalism, which included laconic monochrome things: crop tops, wide trousers, dresses, midi-length skirts - in short, everything a modern girl needs. Things Vazovsky features architectural fit, which is not surprising: the designer is interested in modern architecture. For example, the works of the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas.

Christina is not shy of the fact that she is a layperson, and already sees the results of her work. Despite the fact that the Vazovsky brand exists only a month, designer items have already purchased several stores in St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk. Now the team of the brand includes a designer and several seamstresses. Christina began with a small capital of one thousand euros, which was just enough to make a small collection and remove the book. The most important and important thing for her was to make wearable and accessible things. So, dresses and trousers cost around 5,000 rubles, but in general, prices for brand items vary from three to eight thousand. Wazowski is already sewing a new autumn collection, which also includes cashmere coats that everyone needs, and is also going to attend a professional exhibition of fabrics and trends at Première Vision in Paris and start building international contacts.

I have always been fond of fashion and at some point decided that it was time to act, and set myself a goal. For several months before the launch of the brand, I slept for four hours. When I started, I knew nothing about the organization of sewing production, but gradually figured out: in Paris I found and read a lot of books on the topic, asked many questions for the right people, re-studied geometry, design, went shopping and read a lot. Objectively, now I know no less than a graduate of a course on technology and design. To some extent, it was an exam of my independence, only it was accepted not by some abstract commission, but by real clients, buyers, fashion editors. I feel close to what the Maison Martin Margiela and COS teams do. By the way, it is for the quality and prices of the Swedish brand COS I strive.
