Assistant to the architect Nika Manskaya about favorite outfits
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell related stories. This week, our heroine is M17architects Nick Manska’s assistant architect.
As a child I was always wearing something for someone, which, of course, made me very upset. Small changes occurred only when dad started to fly abroad all the time. But here it was too early to rejoice, since he bought almost everything for growth and overdid it a bit: 99% of those things are great to me to this day. Then there was a period of experiments. From the age of thirteen, I seem to have tried everything that the 90s could offer: pipes, dreadlocks, pink and blue hair, mohawk, ear tunnels, platforms, chokers, heels and rhinestones. Truly, my style began to take shape only when I finally got mad. For many years I have been striving for simplicity, and I would very much like my style to be described as feminine minimalism. Although it is sometimes difficult to find this balance.
Totême coat, Zara jeans, Converse sneakers
This coat designer Aline Kling. It so happened that I have things from all its stages in the field of design: from small collaborations to my Totteme brand. Everything she does combines what I pay attention to when buying clothes: simplicity, femininity, brevity and quality. Well, Converse sneakers are generally my magic wand. Take them with you on any trip. Even in hell, probably, in case of rain.
Marc Jacobs Top, Zara Cape and Jeans, Soludos Flip-Flops
This is my uniform: in this form I can be met at a party, at work, on the market and on a date. When I have a terrible jetlag and I can’t think for a long time what to wear, most likely, I’ll wear this all. Of all the mass market, I only have a good relationship with Zara. There was a time when they released very simple things, something even with a note of either “eco” or “hand made”. This linen cape and jeans are from that period. I can not imagine where in Moscow you can still buy something more or less tolerable quality and not at an exorbitant price.
I sincerely admire my acquaintances, who manage to dig up something good for themselves in H & M, Mango, etc. Every time I tried to enter these stores, I only came across sticking threads, mounds of wrinkled clothes, stained with a tonal, and always panties, lying on the floor. In general, Zara in this regard, I prefer. Very surprised by the people who look at your "cool!" answer in a whisper, covering your mouth with a hand: "This is something" over-ra "..." I take clothes much easier. The main thing is that I like it today.
Cos t-shirt, Zara dress, Nike sneakers
Because of my addiction to minimalism, everyone usually thinks that I love COS. This is not true. Even if I like something in the picture, in the store this thing will most likely be sewn from strange shiny material, which for some reason is especially loved at COS. This T-shirt is one of the few exceptions. It does not shine, and that's all you need to know about it. I love the dress because it can be worn with almost anything: with a t-shirt, a bomber jacket, shoes, shoes and a classic coat. In its original form, he had a tulle lining. It seemed to me superfluous.
I liked Nike sneakers for such a long time, but it turned out that this is a male model and they are not in the women's collection. Then I decided to order them through the site. There you can choose a model and colors for yourself, and also make any inscription. I did not think for a long time and wrote my name from behind. As a result, because of this inscription, sneakers did not go for a couple of weeks, but for three months. They delivered them to me at the end of September. This is a stupid pont, and it was not worth it.
Saba Shorts, Steve Madden Shoes, Zara Top
The shorts were bought in a giant shopping mall in Sydney. In general, I have a rule about shopping trips: do not go shopping, especially for such huge ones. It seems to me that I am simply taking away my precious watches that I could spend on something more interesting. But that time decided to make an exception. I liked it so much in Australia that I wanted to bring something locally made as a souvenir (although if I knew how many things would come from there afterwards, I would not do that). It was a new year, and all the little shops were on vacation. I love shorts, but I still remember that shopping mall with a shudder.
Shoes bought in New York. And at once in two colors. To be honest, it was an attempt to find a replacement for my other shoes, which fell in an unequal battle with the bicycle chain. They just broke into two parts, when I rolled on the frame.
Búl dress, nike sneakers
This dress is also from Australia, but from a small local store. When I bought it, the consultant told me that the designer lives in the next house. Actually, I really like Australian brands. They have a good feature: in a lookbook, a thing can often look boring, but when you see it live, you understand how well it is made, and always from some unreal fabric.
Top Donna Mizani, Theory skirt, Uterqüe shoes
Top, like almost all my clothes, I ordered via the Internet. I have already said that shopping trips seem to me a waste of time. This also applies to products, drugs, shoes, etc. If there is an opportunity not to spend half the day off on trips for something, then I will use this opportunity. I have no problems with sizes. Everything is almost always great for me, which means that I still have to suture it. Shorts bought in New York, when hell was hot. They are from flax and then they just saved me.
Acne Studios pants, Kloke sweater, Zara jacket and shoes
These pants have seen kinds ... I bought them in Tokyo, and since then this is my favorite thing in the wardrobe, so they already look a bit battered. Kofta removed from her boyfriend. I do not know why women's sweatshirts, sweaters and tops are made with a large neckline. I feel very uncomfortable in them, so quite often I steal from my boyfriend. Mark, by the way, is also Australian. Their store is located in the very cool Fitzroy area of Melbourne, which is simply dotted with shops of local designers, cool cafes and bars.
Nice Martin Top & Shorts, Soludos Espadrilles
I understand that this is already beginning to sound stupid, but yes, this brand is also Australian. I stumbled upon it from someone on instagram, and when the thermometer in Melbourne reached 46 degrees, I immediately remembered about this set. It turned out that this is a very small company and they are not yet sold in stores, but can be ordered online. They brought me almost the same day in a very beautiful package with a postcard. I would be happy to order something more from them, but, unfortunately, they do not have international delivery. I hope this is not for long.
Sweater COS, Zara skirt, Castañer shoes
These are the most comfortable heeled shoes I have ever worn. It seems you can run marathons in it. I do not know what kind of association this skirt gives people. Usually it makes others erupt from themselves some strange moaning sounds like “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh" But, probably, we just watched different movies in childhood.
COS Cviter is an exception number two. Bought it in Hong Kong. I really didn’t like it there, so I don’t have any pleasant stories connected with the purchase of a sweater, but he is cool: minimalism, a narrow collar and long sleeves - I like such things very much.
Maurie & Eve skirt and sweater, Steve Madden shoes
I think I will not surprise anyone by saying that Maurie & Eve is also an Australian brand. They do very feminine (sometimes too) things. This skirt of my favorite flax is interestingly sewn. I must admit, I don’t often put on this set together, as I immediately feel about ten years older.
Acne dress, Steve Madden shoes, Hakusan glasses, Mojo dog
Dress and glasses were purchased in Tokyo. The dog is also Japanese. And no, I'm not a crazy dogmaid and I don't consider my dog an accessory. On this shooting, he was by coincidence. But if you try to explain his presence here logically, then we can say that he, like no one else, influenced my style. Especially in the first years of my life, when I gnawed all my shoes and even somehow ate my pants completely.
Amber Sceats Earrings, Delphine Pariente and Dogeared Pendants, Sweetheart Ring, Madewell and Vintage Bracelets
I am not a fan of jewelry, I feel in their forties. Almost everything that I have bought on trips. After experiments with my appearance, and in particular, because of the tunnels, I can’t wear small earrings, but I don’t like big earrings. Amber Sceats - the only earring that I have.
Unknown Brand Rings, COS Bracelet, Tissot Watch
My size rings are almost impossible to find. This aggressive ring with a fin of some fish I had to take to the workshop, and even after reduction it is a bit large to me. I have long wanted such a men's watch, but somehow they did not reach out to buy them. My hands never reached - I took off my watch from my boyfriend.
Perfume Maison Margiela
This is my tenth bottle. I do not think that every person should have his own smell, I just could not find anything better.
Nowhere bag
I already told you about Elin Kling. This clutch is from her very first collection. Generally bags, and especially clutch bags, I do not like. I just can't carry anything in my hand all evening. But this one is quite comfortable - I wear it like a bracelet.
Marc Jacobs and Hakusan glasses
I really like glasses, but they usually do not go to me. Of the million that I tried on, these two pairs are the least of all evils.
