alexander savina
It has long been known that the key to saturated and a pleasant trip - planning: you probably know about convenient applications for finding tickets (OneTwoTrip, Momondo, Skyscanner, Tutu) and accommodation (Booking, Couchsurfing, Airbnb, Trivago). We have collected a few more applications that will be useful wherever you go, regardless of whether you are continuing the January holidays abroad or just planning a future trip.
WalletPasses
Android
Let's face it, the times of printed tickets and hotel armor are gradually becoming a thing of the past, and we are happy about that. In order not to frantically search for a boarding pass at the airport via the mail application, you can use an electronic wallet. You can upload tickets for transportation or events to it - it is useful if, for example, you have an extensive cultural program. In addition, it can be used at home, for example, to load discount store cards into it and not carry a heavy pile.
IOS users have a similar Apple Wallet default application - it also allows you to add credit and debit cards for contactless payment.
Skyguru
iOS, Android
The application for those who want to know exactly what happens during the flight - because it is afraid to fly or out of mere curiosity. The application is free, but only conditionally: in order to obtain flight data, you will have to pay (299 rubles for one flight or 1290 for a dozen flights). For this amount, the application will explain what happens at each of the stages of the journey (for example, what sounds you hear in flight, or when you turn on the autopilot), as well as tell you what the probability of turbulence, given the exact time of departure. Remember that the application must be turned on an hour or two before departure (it also works in airplane mode), and during the flight the phone must be kept in a horizontal position. The last thing is easiest to do in the empty next chair or on the armrest - a table in the front chair will sooner or later be asked to fold.
Rome2Rio
iOS, Android
As you can guess from the name, this application will help to plan any difficult route - from Rome to Rio, from Tbilisi to Nizhnevartovsk. It is enough to enter the names of points (you can choose cities or certain attractions), and then Rome2Rio will show which transport you can use and how much the tickets will cost (you can choose different currencies, including rubles). Be prepared that although the points on the map can be selected in Russian, the application itself is not translated.
TripIt
iOS, Android
An application that helps keep trip information in mind - it is useful, for example, for those who travel a lot for work or choose complex compound routes. TripIt collects information about all your movements (you can throw tickets to a special e-mail address or synchronize the application with the mail so that the data is saved automatically - well, or just manually entered) and forms a timeline trip based on them. In addition, you can manually add plans: important working meetings, going to restaurants or any other activities. TripIt allows you to share travel information with others - this is convenient if you want to go with a big company. The application may have difficulty with automatic recognition of bookings in Russian, so if possible, download their English versions.
Izi.travel
iOS, Android
The famous application guide, in his library, audio guides to more than 150 cities in the world, audio tours to various museums and walking tours. Lack of Internet is not a problem: guides can be downloaded to the phone in advance. If desired, you can use Izi.travel and at home - for example, in walking around your hometown.
Google trips
iOS, Android
Google application that will help in planning a trip. It saves data about your route (tickets and reservations - you can enter them manually or synchronize the application with Gmail mail so that they are saved automatically), and it also helps you to figure out what to do on the trip - advises various sights and suggests adding interesting ones to your favorites. The only possible disadvantage is that the application is not yet Russified.
Maps.me
iOS, Android
A handy application with maps that can be used offline if you download them to your phone in advance. Popular sights are marked on maps - they, as well as any other points of interest to you (for example, the hotel where you stayed), can be saved in your favorites. The only drawback of the application - it does not always build the best route from point to point, so trust, but check.
Citymapper
iOS, Android
An application that will help navigate the public transport of an unfamiliar city. You need to enter the starting and ending point of the route, and Citymapper will tell you how to get from one to another, how long this or that option will take (say, the subway versus a bus or taxi ride) and how much you spend on the trip. Plus, if you use the "Go" function and hints along the route, the application will assess the environmental friendliness of your path. Citymapper also helps to build routes in St. Petersburg and Moscow and their environs, so do not rush to delete it after the trip.
Packr
iOS
Even if you are a champion in self-organization, it was probably in your life that you convulsively remembered at the very last moment what you need to take with you (or vice versa - have you left something valuable in the hotel). Fortunately, traditional paper lists have been replaced by smartphone apps. For example, Packr offers to make an optimal list for various travels: you choose your destination and travel dates, as well as where you will live (from the hotel to the campsite) and possible activities (work, winter sports or, for example, regular trips to the gym) . The application offers a sample list of things that may come in handy, and you can change it to suit your needs. For 379 rubles, you can access the premium version, which allows you to save data about several trips.
Elk Travel Currency Converter
iOS
If you still prefer to pay on a trip in cash rather than a card (well, or you are going to a country where a non-cash payment method is not very common), you probably need a currency converter. Elk has a nice and simple design: you need to choose two types of currency, the rates of which you want to learn. Swipe to the left increases the amount tenfold (that is, for example, not 1, 2 and 3 dollars, but 10, 20 and 30, respectively), swipe to the right reduces them tenfold. A click on a line shows intermediate options between round numbers (not only the dollar, but also the dollar 10 cents, and so on). Unfortunately, only a few currency options are available for free - access to all 162 courses will have to pay 299 rubles.
Flush
iOS, Android
The application, the significance of which is difficult to overestimate. Flush shows where there are public toilets nearby, as well as additional information about different points - for example, if the toilet is paid or it is equipped for visitors with a disability. What is especially nice, Flush works without access to the Internet.
