Actress Ravshana Kurkova about friendship and dear things

Some things become for us something incomparably larger than another dress or another pair of shoes. They are associated with significant events, with close people, with serious changes in life. Once having taken a place in our heart, they do not leave us for years and become something of a physical embodiment of pleasant memories. As part of the joint project Wonderzine and Play With Time, we questioned the hero of the eponymous Instagram sitcom Ravshana Kurkova about things close to her heart and related stories.

About friendship

All the people with whom I am friends are people whom I admire, whom I love dearly and have unlimited respect. These are self-made people, a little crazy in the good sense of the word, real fans of their work. Each of them is a whole universe. They inspire me every day.

My student years, like many at that time, were hungry - there was no money even for a student cafeteria. And my friend Tanya, with whom we have been friends for more than 15 years, began to come to my house - supposedly study and do homework, and in fact brought me some soup, some patties with mashed potatoes, something else from food. We never discussed this with her, but she literally fed me for a couple of months. And I will always remember that.

When something is not going well - the friends are near, and they, more importantly and more difficult, are always ready to sincerely rejoice at my success. Joy for a loved one is the highest manifestation of love and acceptance, as it seems to me. In general, this is a unique and rare combination of qualities - non-indifference, the ability to accept a person as he is, the ability to truly be happy for him, the ability to hear, not to condemn, if you are offended or confused, but always tell the truth. In a true friendship, as in love, between people should bloom and manifest their best qualities. When you have such friends, you are definitely invincible.

About books

I am a drunken reader, and the question of my favorite book drives me into a stupor. What does "favorite book" mean? We have different books for different periods of life: they, too, do not come to us randomly. From the latter, for example, I was very impressed with the “Steep Route” Ginzburg, “Summer of the Whole Century” Illies. Now I’m reading “And the day lasts longer than a century” by Aitmatov and Möem’s “Theater”. From time to time I am especially interested in friends, what they read - it is interesting to find out what period someone has, what mood at this particular moment in life. Books that "fall" into us are always a reflection of our inner "I", those questions that we are looking for answers to, the state in which we are.

My favorite kind of shopping - in the book. Of course, knowing this love of mine, my close friends give me books. Not so long ago, for example, I got a funny picture book about how to show all sorts of figures with your hands to the light - a gift from scriptwriter and director Roma Cantor. We make friends, working on the filming of his pilot, and Roma brought me this gift from his trip to Europe. "A brief history of everything" Ken Wilber gave me on the birthday of my theater director, playwright and friend Vanya Vyrypaev. Before that, I read, on his recommendations, the "Grace and Resilience" of the same Ken Wilber, and this work on the strength of the spirit and unconditional love made a tremendous impression on me. And Illies was recommended to me by director and actor Ilya Shagalov.

What to read?

"Nand Shadows" - A Friend's Gift, "Summer of a Century" - Florian Illies, "A Brief History of Everything" - Ken Wilberg

About clothes outside work

Regardless of whether I have working meetings or not, whether I’m going or not going on the set, I almost always look the same way. The only reason to change this rule is the red carpet. I always strive to look the same way. If an event implies a certain dress code, then it is worth adhering to it - this is at least a show of respect for colleagues and the situation. For example, to come in your favorite sneakers, jeans and a white shirt at the opening of the film festival, if it is not accepted on it - disrespect for those who invited you, so I put on a dress, high-heeled shoes, I do the appropriate makeup. But at any other time I look super-relaxed, I never brightly dye, I don’t wear tight or too overt things — I feel uncomfortable with them. The basis of my wardrobe is feminine, very calm, simple things. Sometimes in the mood for something I can wear something with an ironic print: a T-shirt with an inscription, for example, or an unusually tailored skirt.

If a friend calls me on his birthday or another informal party, I put on the same jeans, sneakers and white shirt. Sometimes, I can choose a funny dress or change sneakers for heels and make beautiful styling. In any case, it is comfortable clothing, albeit adjusted for the occasion. By the way, I always wore comfortable shoes without heels: at first I was worried because of my height, although now 178 centimeters are already considered to be a very average figure, and then I realized that I just feel sorry for my legs. I walk a lot on foot, and running six to eight hours a day in heels is torture. So I wear shoes only in the evening, and then a maximum of a couple of hours and for a very special occasion.

I am one of those girls who always go with small bags. Even my suitcase is always such that I can take it in my hand luggage. Every day I do not need too many things: credit card, keys, lip balm. If you need to touch up more brightly, I can drop into the theater - I have a cosmetic bag there. But these are rare cases.

About 65% of my wardrobe is Russian designer stuff. It seems to me that their things lately are not at all inferior in terms of the quality and level of ideas to the things of their foreign colleagues. I am friends with a decent amount of our masters, and they give me a lot, however, despite this very pleasant practice, my wardrobe is quite adequate in size. I do not store things, and after the dress or costume is walked and recorded in a photo report, the thing, as a rule, migrates further - to the mother, sister, girlfriends. But there are exceptions, if this is love at first sight and you do not want to part with it.

Grandma's brooch

I grew up with this brooch: my childhood grandmother put it on the most important events and family holidays. And when, at the age of 17, I was leaving for Moscow, I asked my grandmother to give it to me. Despite the fact that this is an ordinary garnet brooch, not a jewel, for me it is the most precious thing of the wardrobe. When I am faced with something very important, difficult samples or a responsible meeting, I always put it on, even if it does not fit the image (in this case, I just slaughter it imperceptibly from the back of my jacket, jacket or dress). When I feel her, she gives me strength, calms.

Golden chains

Ten years ago I was shot in several projects at the same time - in Barvikha, in the Officers project by Zinovy Roizman and in the Estonian film The Temptation of St. Tõnu. For the first time in my life I had such a busy year, I managed to earn, as it seemed to me, a lot of money. And I decided to go to Paris with my girlfriend Sveta. I have never been to Paris before, so I just went crazy there, of course. In addition, to see the city, enjoy the architecture, atmosphere, museums, small cafes, I had another super task - the first shopping in my life. I ran through all the ridiculous boutiques and shops, spent almost the entire salary on all nonsense. Specifically, this chain was purchased in the Printemps department store. It is for me - a symbol of adult life, when I myself, as a big woman, went to Paris. (Laughs) But seriously, I just love such elegant jewelry, and, knowing this love of mine, my friends always give me something in this "weightless" style.

The second chain for my last birthday was presented by my best friend Katya Komolova, and she has the same one. I just adore her. And a girlfriend, and a chain. (Laughs) The pendant is a small ruby, which, by the way, is my stone. Every time I wear a jewelry, everyone asks what kind of beauty it is. In general, my Katyusha knows what to give.

Brooch from Kiev

A hundred years ago she starred in Kiev in one picture. And some beautiful girl (as it turned out, my fan), having learned that I was in the city on the set, made me this brooch - the prototype of my character from that film. Since then, this decoration with me. I am very inspired when people can create something with their own hands, especially such beauty. The energy of a particular person, his sympathy, his attention - all this is concentrated in each such creation and is very much felt.

Glasses from venice

I'm going crazy about designer glasses. Wherever I go, everywhere I bring glasses of local designers. I found these in a small shop in Venice: now the owner of this shop is a young guy, before him the shop was kept by his father, even earlier - grandfather. That is, several generations of the same family are engaged in the manufacture of various points. This copy is very unusual - sunglasses are not sunglasses, they are more likely for beauty, and I don’t wear them often, but they are undoubtedly adorn my collection.

Jacket

Often at photo shoots a stylist or designer gives me something from things. I don’t remember for which edition we were shooting then, it was about eight years ago, but I remember that when I was presented with the See by Chloé jacket, I was just happy. A black jacket made in a masculine style is an indispensable thing in a wardrobe that does not lose its shape or relevance. Super Bald Blazer, I think.

Shoes

Once Natasha Turovnikova pushed me to another shoot (with Natasha, we know each other for a long time, she is a well-known dude and a very cool person). So we spent this shooting, and she says: "Choose yourself any thing from the shooting - our compliment to you." I took these Christian Louboutin shoes, they seem incredibly beautiful to me. And despite the fact that, oddly enough, for the year I have never put them on, I'm sure they will wait for their finest hour.
