Socks Netflix turn off the TV for you (if you fall asleep)
We all know how it happens: one series of the beloved series is followed by the second, then the third - and so the whole night flies by. Sometimes the only thing that can interfere with watching a show is avidly a dream, a dream, and Netflix understands this as no one else. Streaming service introduced a prototype of a new device - socks that analyze body movements and understand when a person falls asleep and then pauses a TV series or movie on Netflix - so that in the morning it will be easy to understand where to start watching again.
Netflix socks work on the basis of actigraphy (a method of recording a person's movements, which allows determining the time of his sleep and wakefulness): the sensor detects that a person has been motionless for a long time and sends a signal to the TV that pauses Netflix. When a sock determines that a person begins to fall asleep, a red light comes on on it, signaling that the program will soon be paused - this can be prevented by any movement.
Netflix made up a detailed (albeit not very simple) instruction explaining how to make the same socks yourself. In addition, the company came up with the design of several knitted socks based on the popular Netflix TV series - including "House of Cards", "Unbending Kimmy Schmidt" and "Orange - hit of the season".
