The most absurd calendars for 2015
Text: Elina Chebbocha
Despitethat printed products continue to take positions, calendars for a year from times to times sold millions of copies. With these calendars, publishers beat off the falling demand for books and can easily close annual reports in the few prewinter months. We have compiled a list of the strangest, most ridiculous and just ridiculous calendars for 2015, where nuns, men and even chickens are having fun, and naked women are posing against the background of coffins and potatoes. No, you did not hear any of this.
World Toilets
The British publishing house teNeues specializes in the production of calendars, about which they themselves understand everything. The slogan of this calendar is “Discover the most outlandish toilets of the world!”. The list of toilets shown includes colorful urinals, street toilets on the outskirts of the planet, toilets with graffiti, and even a finished roll of toilet paper that marks the last month of the year. Perhaps such a calendar and the truth can only be hung in the toilet. Another advantage is that the publication "speaks" in six languages at once, includes national holidays and weekends from different countries of the world, but most importantly, it indicates the phases of the moon for the year ahead.
Naked artists in the images of pandas
Last year, the news feed of the American media was filled with reports about how "the government deprived the people of its favorite entertainment." It was about the National Zoo, which covered the round-the-clock online broadcast of pandas from the aviary and deprived people of the opportunity to observe how the pandas go about their business: lying, sleeping, playing and eating. The news has spawned many sarcastic jokes about "the problems of white people." As a result, a group of comedic artists, artists and feminists united and decided to remove their calendar, in which they appeared naked and in the images of pandas. As a supplement to the nonsense news about the calendar, they included holidays that no one notes (such as the International Day of Men and International Toilet Day, which, incidentally, fall on the same day - November 19), and art events that nobody goes to .
Penguins who hate everything
Penguins, according to artist Greg Stone, hate zombies, as well as snakes, bad haircuts, monkeys, leprechauns, Halloween, oil rigs, vampire penguins and mermaids. They also hate clowns, but they love hoods, balloons and weekends. Prior to this, Greg Stones drew illustrations with pieces that hate zombies, and his collection of pictures was recommended by the Association of libraries for adults and children YALSA for readers who do not particularly like or like to read. This year penguins-haters made up a calendar, and this is a witty, funny and absurd collection of illustrations about the fictional life of Antarctic birds that collide with enemies (sharks, beavers, cowboys and samurai), but still manage to enjoy the little things in life.
Sharks, pretending to be seals
"On a very ordinary day, I grabbed my notebook and started painting. These doodles made scary little creatures - cat sharks. The original design was based on fox sharks, but then I discovered that their little faces and huge eyes fit very well with the cat aesthetics However, the more I sketched, the more obvious it became that any shark could be adapted, ”says creator and illustrator of the strangest calendars Brynn Metheny. Slightly more sketches can be seen in her instagram, but these are definitely the strangest calendars of the coming year.
Dudes
"Dude" - this is not a figure of speech and not slang, but the real name of the calendar of the illustrator Max Hearn. This artist specializes in photographic images of ladies in bikinis in the style of the 50s, but this year he created a calendar and a series of postcards called "Dudes" for a female audience. According to Hernn, the golny and riser on a donkey, Santa Claus surfers and men in Hawaiian skirts are able to delight the female gaze. As the water looks.
Bacon and love
Attention, attention, only this year and for only $ 15 you can buy the ugliest calendar in the world about the love of bacon. This is not a joke - all 640 pages of the daily calendar are devoted to this product, that is, bad Redneck jokes about bacon, bad photos of bacon and disgusting recipes. Pribautkam about cholesterol in this calendar, of course, is given more than one page.
Insults for every day
Brother and sister Ross and Catherine Petras specialize in stupidity and nonsense - this is what their entire blog, as well as speeches on television, radio and books, including the best-selling calendar "365 most stupid phrases in the world", which has sold 4 million copies . This year they reached a new level and dedicated a whole calendar to insults - phrases said by comedians, actors, actors and politicians with the aim of humiliating someone. It turned out a hodgepodge with expressions for every day, symbolizing the popular culture of insults. People who adhere to the motto "if you have not offended anyone, then the day has passed in vain," will be satisfied.
Incredible Chicken
British photographer Stephen Green-Armitage earned a legion of fans around the world thanks to his pictures of birds and animals that really look amazing. After all, who else would even think of photographing incredible hens, very incredible hens, incredible pigs, pheasants, leaves and pigeons? Since the calendars with his pictures began to be published by Abrams, they have become bestsellers. Stephen shoots not only birds and animals, but also politicians, athletes and other celebrities, but found true popularity and love among the people solely thanks to strange hens.
Nuns are having fun
Nuns are having fun for the eleventh year in a row, which suggests that such calendars are addictive. Initially, this series of calendars was launched in order to change the perception of the nuns as strict dark women, as they are usually portrayed in the media. What can I say - now it is definitely known, but the desperate fun of the representatives of the law of God attracts buyers year after year. In the 2015 calendar, the nuns jump with a skipping rope, ride a roller coaster, drive Vespa scooters and participate in other incredibly fun activities.
Coffins and beauties
The largest producer of coffins in Poland, the company Lindner, for the sixth consecutive year, produces calendars with photos of naked women who lie, sit or stand near the coffins. Sometimes there are fully dressed men in the photo. The company produces approximately 11,000 coffins monthly, selling them throughout Europe. Although Lindner has been shooting women in calendars since 2010, they only got rid of their clothes last year. According to the company, the calendar personifies "the perfect harmony between the coffins of Lindner and natural wood, blue sea, red flowers, green fields and the beauty of the female body." Religious groups tried to criticize the company for this calendar, but Lindner representatives retorted that the coffin is furniture, not a sacred or religious symbol.
Baby potato
"Is the potato the dirtiest vegetable in the world?" - as if asking the calendar of the Bavarian Association of Farmers. "Heisse Kartoffel", or "Calendar of hot potatoes", consists of pictures of naked or half-naked women against the background of potatoes - definitely the most unattractive vegetable. The calendar works because of its absurdity: when it comes to the most lascivious-looking vegetables, potatoes do not pull even the last place in the top 20. Illustrations of women in a bed full of potato chips, not rose petals, look like an obvious parody of pin-up calendars with their deliberate sexuality. The models involved in the shooting are really involved in the potato business and thus want to draw attention to this culture.
