Cultural Background: Fashion exhibitions and winter books

CONTINUE TO TELL ABOUT HEROES AND EVENTS which will make this winter more pleasant. In the next three months, we are waiting for a series of fashion shows, the appearance of designer collaborations in stores and winter sales. New books and interesting exhibitions about fashion will help muffle consumer impulses - we are talking about them in this collection.

"Hats of the XXI century"

Moscow, Saint Petersburg

The largest hatter exhibition of hatter Philip Trecy is brought to Russia in 25 years. Visitors will be able to see more than a hundred unique items, including 75 hats that belong to monarchs and stars, as well as accessories, magazines, sketches and video installations. Among the exhibits, one can expect hats of the most intricate forms: from carousels to lobsters. At the opening of the exhibition promise to bring Susie Menkes and Hamish Bowles. In Moscow, the exhibition will be held from November 28 to January 25 in the house Chertkov on Myasnitskaya, and in St. Petersburg - from February 4 to March 15 in the museum of modern art Erarta.

"Silk Island in the world of Salvatore Ferragamo"

The oldest Florentine house, Salvatore Ferragamo, is holding a series of events in Moscow. The first of these will be an exhibition dedicated to the technique of drawing on silk, which opened yesterday in the brand's boutique in Stoleshnikov Lane. Visitors will be able to follow the history of the development of Salvatore Ferragamo on silk things from 1927 to the present day. Among other things, the organizers promise a light installation with a three-dimensional image of animated silk. One of the exhibition halls will reproduce the historic headquarters of the brand - the hall in the Palazzo Spini-Feroni in Florence.

"Bettina"

Paris

An exhibition dedicated to the most famous and sought-after supermodel of the 1950s, Bettina Graziani, opened in Paris in mid-November. Next year she will be ninety years old. In the 50s Bettina worked for couture house Givenchy, Chanel and Emmanuel Ungaro and was the muse of the French house Jacques Fath. She was also a close friend of Azzedine Alaya, who dedicated an exhibition to her in his Paris gallery on the Rue de la Verrerie in the Marais.

"Guy Bourdin: Image Maker"

London

 

One of the biggest fashion shows of the winter opened this week at the Somerset House in London. She is dedicated to the provocateur, fashion-photographer and director Guy Bourdain, who began his career in French Vogue in the mid-50s. The exhibition includes more than a hundred works by Burden from 1955 to 1987, including the sexy and surreal advertising campaigns Issey Miyake, Charles Jourdan and Chanel.

"Horst: Photographer of Style"

London

Although the main event of the next year in the Victoria and Albert Museum will be a large exhibition dedicated to the work of Alexander McQueen (starting in mid-March), there is a reason to look into the museum in winter too. This is a retrospective of the work of one of the most important fashion photographers of the 20th century - Paul Horst, who shot for Vogue. The exhibition will include Horst's 250 works from studio photographs to film shots.

"Steven Meisel: Role Play"

Phillips auction house organized a large exhibition dedicated to one of the most important American fashion photographers of the 80s and 90s, Stephen Meisel, who collaborated with Vanity Fair, Interview, W Magazine and Vogue. The exposition can be found in three world fashion capitals: in Paris from November 20 to February 14, in London from December 16 to January 11, and in New York from January 23 to February 14.

"Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe"

The Brooklyn Museum now hosts a small but capacious and informative exhibition devoted to the history of heels: from Asian platforms and 16th century Italian mules to fetish boots of the 90s and Iris van Herpen printed on a 3D printer. Heels at the exhibition are viewed from many angles - from the subject of erotic fetish to surrealistic design. You can also see Elsa Schiaparelli's famous heel hat.

Opened Museum "Pierre Cardin: Passé-Présent-Futur"

In mid-November, a new fashion museum was opened in the Paris Marais district - named after fashion futurist Pierre Cardin, who turned 92 this year. The museum features more than 200 outfits created by him, starting with the first couture collection in 1953. At one time, Cardin styled vinyl miniskirts, go-go boots, and trapezoid mini-dresses of architectural design. The designer worked with transparent fibers and geometric patterns on the space theme - all this can now be seen firsthand in the new museum.

The process of its construction took several years, and this year the cultural center finally opened its doors to visitors - at the moment there is an exhibition of the author of the architectural project Frank Gary. Anne-Line Roccati tells the story of the foundation and the intricacies of the process of creating a building in the Bois de Boulogne.
