A succession of fashion weeks The prêt-à-porter spring-summer 2015 season began this year ahead of the usual schedule: September 3 in New York. Richard Chai, Creatures of the Wind, Creatures of Comfort, BCBGMAXAZRIA and Coach have already shown their collections. At Coach, we conquered spring parks from long faux fur of candy colors, as if made from toy prizes in a dash (in English it sounds many times simpler - with a capacious monkey fluff).
A joint show Made Fashion of the New York store and the Internet platform VFILES, where the spring collections were shown by Russian designers Tigran Avetisyan and ZDDZ, took place. One of the most awaited presentations was the first Gareth Pugh show in the history of the brand in New York (until yesterday, the brand’s shows were held in Paris). The show took place in an improvised movie theater, and the models were replaced by video recording. However, the fun is just beginning. We tell what we expect from the most intense fashion week this year in New York.
Versus Versace by Anthony Vaccarello show
In early 2013, Donatella Versace announced a change in the concept of the junior line Versace Versus. In the spring of 2013, a joint collection with Jonathan Anderson (who is now completely absorbed in working on Loewe) was released as part of Versus, then capsules with singer M.I.A. and street label Superga. At this year's New York Fashion Week, Versace Versus will show the result of a collaboration with Anthony Vaccarello, a young Italian designer whose handwriting is closer to Versace DNA. We are waiting for black color, asymmetry, cutouts from the hip and the length of the mini. The show will be held on September 8.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Show
The progressive English women Katie Hillier and Luell Bartley are now engaged in the Marc by Marc Jacobs collections: their first collection of the autumn-winter 2014 season has caused a lot of noise. Katie and Luell are Palace fans and are actively introducing street aesthetics into their brand: they are developing prints with graphic designer for the street brand Palace Skateboards Fergus Purcell and are looking for models for advertising campaigns among regular users of social networks. We look forward to their spring collection, which will be shown on September 10. Judging by the cruise collection - 2015, you can expect things with khaki pockets and overalls. Marc Jacobs himself, leaving Louis Vuitton and retiring from Marc by Marc Jacobs, focused on working on the main line of Marc Jacobs. His show will close the New York Fashion Week - this will happen on the night of September 12, European time.
Opening Ceremony
Stamps go beyond the usual podium show, which is not surprising. The same small, but bright presentations of new collections today collect not less buyers and the press, than big shows, pass faster, look more efficient and cost less. This year, Carol Lim and Umberto Leon decided to make the Opening Ceremony show, which is participating for the third time in the schedule of the New York week, more intimate and turn it into a performance. The authors of the one-act play were Spike Jonze and John Hill. The performance will be held on September 8 in one of the theaters on Broadway - a place in which it is indecent to use the telephone, so it is not yet clear whether we can all follow the real-time show on Instagram and other social networks. It was not the first time that they collaborated with Spike Jonze on Opening Ceremony: they previously had capsule collections based on the films “She” and “Where the monsters live”. Chloe Sevigny continues to cooperate with the brand - her capsule collection for OC will be presented on September 12.
Jeremy Scott Show with Miley Cyrus
A week ago, a lover of modern pop culture, Jeremy Scott, announced that he was preparing something special for showing the name brand - the participation of another pop provoker, Miley Cyrus. We can assume that ordinary people will walk instead of models at the show, Miley will twerk, and Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora and A $ AP Rocky will sit in the first row. But there is a suspicion that we are waiting for something more unpredictable. What exactly - we will know on September 10.
Young designers
New York promises to be one of the most interesting fashion weeks this season - after London, of course. For starters, NYFW is the first in a row, lasts almost 10 days and holds dozens of shows and presentations of young and often more daring brands in the schedule. VFILES have already demonstrated what new names they bet on - and, as usual, Rihanna will soon be wearing their stuff. Another highlight of this fashion week promises to be the Hood By Air show - a brand that blurs the lines between high fashion and streetwear, fashion shows and performance. Recall that Hood By Air this year received a prize LVMH and a grant of 100 thousand euros. In addition, we are looking forward to the presentation of the New York brand Eckhaus Latta.
