Text: Dariya Nifontova
Food photography is one of the most popular types of content. in social networks, at any second you can see photos of breakfasts, glasses of coffee and cakes, which were eaten by your friends. We learn what chefs put on Instagram - people who know more about food than others.
Jose andre
The life mission of Jose Andre is to not leave anyone hungry. In addition to working on a dozen restaurants, chef Jose is involved in food activism and is struggling with the problem of world hunger and food waste as a member of the LA Kitchen organization, which trains young chefs from socially disadvantaged families and prepares for social canteens. This year, Andre spent several months in the ruins of Puerto Rico and literally fed the whole island, preparing about ten thousand servings of food a day. The chef’s account is appropriate: delicious dishes from his restaurants are interspersed with photos of the beds and students of LA Kitchen and give us all hope for a bright and full future.
Janice wong
Chef and pastry chef 2 am:dessertbar from Singapore Janice Wong, who is often called not even a chef, but an artist, creates breathtaking desserts and happily shares them with others. Ribbon Wong almost entirely consists of her miniature desserts and bright colored chocolate - her main business card. If there is such beauty is very sorry, then you can just admire it by subscribing to Janice's account or visiting one of her art installations: she recently showed her works (and treated them!) To visitors to the Metropolitan Museum, which once again proved that food - this is art.
Missy robbins
Each year, the main event of the Western food industry becomes the James Beard Awards, which awards the best chefs in the world. The award for the lifetime of the award was received by only a few women, but this year everything has changed. One of the winners was Missy Robbins - she was rewarded as the best chef of New York. Missy owns the Lilia restaurant, in which she prepares simple but very tasty Italian food and desserts. To subscribe to the Missy account you need to be very careful, because from the photos of pasta, polenta and sessions on the test portions of gelato you can easily get dizzy.
Vladimir Mukhin
The owner and chef of White Rabbit in instagram behaves as simply and charmingly as in life: he puts stupid photos in his cooking caps, constantly jokes and tricks his team and dances infectiously. But the most important thing in Mukhin's tape is, of course, his endless love for fresh fruits and vegetables of local origin. Mukhin is working hard to restore the culture of Russian cuisine, and shows all the facets of this work in his account: photos of aspen mushrooms, the last harvest of eggplants alternate with photos of his friends from all over the world. And for wacky dances and joking videos about "herring potatoes" we always have a story of Mukhin.
David chang
One of the most charming chefs of our time, David Chang, has long understood the secret of instagram - subscribers' love for real food porn - and regularly uploads not just food photos, but tempting short videos from which you feel a mixture of various sensations. Unconditional hit of Chiang is a video in which he slowly pierces the yolk in poached eggs or slices smoked pork shoulder. However, Chang lays out not only exciting photos of food, but also the team of his group of restaurants, Momofuku, or portraits of strict mother.
Alice waters
Waters can rightly be called the ancestor of the modern boom on organic, local and fresh food in restaurants. In 1971, the first year Alice opened Chez Panisse, which still works to this day, and began her long and monumental work of teaching ordinary Americans the basics of not only proper but also delicious nutrition. In addition to working at a restaurant, Alice Waters writes books (her "The Art of Simple Food" is considered one of the most important books for all novice chefs), sits as vice president of Slow Food International, and teaches students to grow and cook their own vegetables. Tape instagrama Waters seems to be a reflection of her: photos of young onions, domestic chicken eggs and endless fields are imbued with real and sincere love.
Pierre Thiam
In his TED presentation on African cuisine and fonio (a type of millet from West Africa), Chef Pierre Thiam quotes Senegalese President Leopold Sedar Senghor, who was called "President-Poet." Tiam may well be called a "poetic chef," his mission is to eradicate world hunger and promote West African cuisine. On his instagram page, Tiam generously shares recipes from Senegalese cuisine, talks about African superfoods and shows excerpts from his speeches all over the world.
Nina Compton
Nina Compton is another winner of the James Beard Awards - 2018, she claimed a medal for the best restaurant in the south of America, Compère Lapin in New Orleans. Compton combines its Caribbean roots with the Creole traditions of New Orleans and prepares bright, rich dishes of fish and seafood, beans and an infinite amount of fresh vegetables. Compton's account quite well conveys the diversity of her life: neat and sophisticated dishes from Compère Lapin in her ribbon often coexist with photos of legendary In-n-Out burgers and ice cream in the form of a unicorn.
Dan barber
Dan Barber is a real man of the Renaissance, he is also a chef, a scientist and an agronomist. Barber's farm-to-table principle is not just collaboration with farmers: he built the Blue Hills restaurant in the huge non-profit farm and the Stone Barns educational center. Barber works hard to “make the most efficient use of the land on which food is grown, and then the food itself,” and is not afraid to experiment. In addition to working on a restaurant, Barber founded the company Row 7 Seed, which displays and sells seeds. Watching Barber on Instagram is incredibly interesting: here you have experiments on egg yolk, donuts with a peach in the shape of a peach and master classes on pasta in the shape of origami.
Jordi Roca
Terribly cute pastry chef Jordi Roca can leave few people indifferent, and his desserts just hit the spot. Caramel cream in caramel, rainbow-colored glitter ice cream in honor of International Pride Day or absolutely surreal ice cream in the shape of a nose — all this Jordi does for his Rocambolesc cafe, in which he embodies children's dreams of ice cream, chocolate and sweet buns without any restrictions. In addition to his sugar masterpieces, Rock will post hilarious commercials for Rocambolesc, a selfie from a make-up artist's chair and a wife.
