Eco-Friendly Good Guys Shoes
In the weekly heading "New Brand", Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how to buy their things. Our heroine this week is Marion Ananias, creating brogues, oxfords and loafers without harming animals.
The concept of the Good Guys Don't Wear Leather brand is reflected in the concept: Frenchwoman Marion Ananias is developing shoes from materials of non-animal origin. Its production is located in Portugal and complies with ethical principles. In this case, the girl makes shoes of exceptional quality - women's and men's brogues, oxfords and loafers of soothing colors. They are sewn from ordinary canvas and fine synthetic material called vegan suede. Shoes are produced on a flat sole, with the exception of wedge ankle boots.
Ananias graduated from the L'école Duperré fashion school in 2002 and then took up shoe design. Three years later, the girl participated in the fashion and photography festival in Yera, where Felipe Oliveira Batista and Viktor & Rolf also came from. Having ceased eating animal products, she decided to start making vegan shoes and in 2011 she opened the Good Guys brand. There are not so many such brands of shoes, and units that are attractive in terms of design make shoes. Therefore, for a couple of years, the brand of Ananias began to be sold in a dozen countries. Now Good Guys goes to a higher level - they participate in the MAN trade show in Paris, which is visited by buyers from the main heritage stores. Marion also works as an illustrator, while her twin sister Estelle Anania shoots Good Guys books.
Becoming a vegetarian, I realized that my work must coincide with beliefs. I do not want to use natural leather to create shoes and I think many people have already proved to me that you can do beautiful things without it. I adore design. I always think in my head "What do I want to do in the new season?" I am inspired by the lifestyle - vintage, colors of paintings, beaches, old movies. But the main landmark is convenience. This is the most important for modern girls. Well, the style, of course. I think everyone needs a pair of white and yellow loafers! Creating shoes is fun, but it is especially interesting to make men's shoes: guys are more obsessed with shoes than we think. I would wear my shoes with the Carven brand, they do very beautiful things, but in general I'm more about vintage. I do not like modern fashion - look at the "Elite Society" by Sofia Coppola, and you will understand why.
