Results of the year: what happened to fashion, beauty and culture
For the last couple of weeks, we have been telling how our lives changed in 2013: filmmakers broke gender stereotypes, designers got involved in hip-hop and 3D, cosmetics manufacturers - in a golden color, women fought against violence and for the right to be themselves, while the world was reeling from twerking and harlem neck. It's time to sum up the global result and set yourself goals for the next year.
What happened to pop culture for the year
New defiant image of Miley Cyrus, the mainstreaming of twerking and a wave of controversy about how show business exploits youthful sexuality
The teen idol, Miley Cyrus, in a matter of months, reincarnated from a touching Disney star into a defiant short-haired blonde who would stick her tongue out, then twist her hips in such a way that it would not seem that much, then she would fly past in a metal ball where her mother gave birth. Although Miley Cyrus’s rapid transformation took place in several stages (the video We Can't Stop, the performance on VMA - further shock and sensation always and everywhere), it still made such a strong impression on the public that the moan of the artist who had allegedly lost any shame so far. To the dispute about whether the big bosses decided to cash in on a silly little girl, or whether Miley rolled down the ramp, even Sinead O'Connor joined in. The conclusions from it each made their own. However, one of the main and indisputable consequences of the transformation of Cyrus was the popularization of twerking - a frank dance with characteristic movements of the hips, a meme scattered throughout the world. Popular presenter Jimmy Fallon launched a viral video about a twerking attempt that ended in a fire on his show; in Manhattan, 358 people got into the Guinness Book of Records, having thrashed it all together for two minutes, and Afisha-Volna published a sensible guide on twerking. As for Miley, in December she entered the short list of contenders for the title of "Man of the Year" of Time magazine, but eventually lost to Pope Francis.
Promo campaign "Nymphomaniac" made the film the most anticipated premiere of the year
From the new work of Lars von Trier, the public has been in a fever for half a year already, although they have seen it by now. Thank you need to say, firstly, the plot and the cast, and secondly (and perhaps the main ones) - an outstanding promotional campaign of the film. The beginning can be considered the moment when two years ago Trier refused to comment on his work after an unsuccessful joke about the Nazis in Cannes. With the first press release of “Nymphomaniac”, journalists received a photo of the director with mouth taped and tape teasers, each of which later became a separate event. By the time the “Nymphomaniac” full trailer appeared, viewers and critics had reached the same degree of obsession with the film as his character tries to regain the once-lost orgasm. Dates of the Russian release of the picture can be considered the last straw or the best joke of the year (here as someone): Trier's porn tram will be shown to us in two parts for the holidays - February 14 and March 8. Here we note so note!
Justin Timberlake and Beyonce recorded the best female and male albums of the year
Timberlake this year remembered that he was not only an actor, but also a musician, and returned to the stage with fanfare: he recorded an epic pop album in two parts with songs of seven minutes in length, received an armful of nominations for Grammy, and then also announced that he was going to Russia with concerts. We are just Justin such generosity, to put it mildly, incredibly happy. As for Beyonce, at the end of the year she appeared as a queen: without the slightest warning, she released a magnificent, deep record and provided the fans with clips for half a year ahead. A little more specifically about what the album "Beyonce" is so good, we wrote here and are ready to vouch for every word.

20 main events of the year in the fashion world
Trendsetters: Hip Hoppers
It is difficult to deny the fact that hip-hopers have a major influence on fashion from the side of pop culture. A $ AP Rocky and Kanye West make it mainstream, singing in the tracks of Céline and Prada and showing how cool Raf Simons is, not worse than stylists. In addition, the first rapper defiles on the show Hood by Air, and the second comes up with a collection for the French A.P.C. Girlfriends are not far behind: Beyonce flashes in the H & M campaign, Maya is developing a clothing line with Versus, while Rihanna poses for Balmain. Perhaps it is thanks to these guys that voluminous bombers, t-shirts with prints and pants with sneakers become an integral (sorry) part of our wardrobes. Whether they will retain their former influence in 2014 will be seen, but, knowing the pace of fashion, one can begin to doubt this now.
Brawler: Edie Slimane
Edie Slimane shows controversial collections, which are sold surprisingly well, and publishes campaigns with musicians beloved by the public, from Daft Punk to Courtney Love. Along the way, the designer manages to spoil relations with the critic of The New York Times, Katie Horin, and the Colette store. A couple of months ago, the creative director of the concept store, Sarah Endelman, said that Saint Laurent had ceased cooperation with its store. The reason for such a radical decision was the T-shirt on Colette with the inscription referring to Sliman’s decision to change the brand name: "Ain't Laurent without Yves".
Technology: 3D
Now not only avant-gardists like Iris van Herpen use 3D printing. The technology was adopted by more mass companies, for example, New Balance, which, together with the athletes, prints perfect running sneakers, as well as Victoria's Secret, which made the body out of plastic. Next in line are H & M, Topshop and Zara.
Media: Dazed & Confused Digital i-D
The print version of Dazed & Confused magazine will now be published only once in two months: this innovation is waiting for it in the first quarter of 2014. At the same time, Dazed Group will engage in attracting an audience to the site DazedDigital.com, the number of unique visitors of which reaches 800,000 people per month. At the same time, Dazed Digital and i-D made a massive restart by opening video sections, and Garage and 032c are also being developed online. Perhaps the talk about the death of print was not a waste of time.
Country Ukraine
In Ukraine, an incredible amount of new creative energy is concentrated, from designers like Masha Reva and Svetlana Bevza to photographers Synchrodogs and video director Nowfashion.com and author Style.com Darya Shapovalova. The guys flashed in the British and Italian Vogue more often than their colleagues, and in connection with the events of the last month - rallies on the Maidan - publications like 032c, published by the designer Anton Belinsky and photographer Alexandra Trishina, draw attention to the guys, and Dazed & Confused, the set for which made the heroine of our "Wardrobe" column Kati Garbuz. With the flip side of the coin - sales - the guys are fine too: they are on Luisa Via Roma, as well as in small but pleasant shops in Europe and America.

12 films of the year breaking stereotypes about women
Nymphomaniac
Producer: Lars von Trier
Cast: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe
Erotic drama in two parts about a woman who lost her orgasm and devoted herself to his subsequent search. In Russia, the film will be released only at the beginning of next year, but the excitement around Nymphomaniac has not subsided for several months now.
spring Breakers
Producer: Harmony Korin
Cast: James Franco, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Rachel Corin, Gucci Main
The manifesto of teenage carelessness, which almost always turns into serious trouble and, which is logical, maturing. The film tells about four friends, classmates, who decided to spend the summer holidays as the last time and who found a like-minded person in the face of the lonely gangsta James Franco.
Adel's life
Producer: Abdelatif Keshish
Cast: Adel Ekzarkopulos, Lea Seydoux, Salim Keshush, Aurelien Rekuan
The drama of the first love - beautiful, same-sex and unhappy. “Life Adele” can be called a film, around which this year was the most scandals.

10 bold male roles of the year
Behind the candelabra
Producer: Stephen Soderberg
Cast: Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Rob Lowe, Dan Aykroyd, Scott Bakula, Debbie Reynolds, Boyd Holbrook, Nicky Katt, Sheyenn Jackson, Eddie Jameson, Bruce Ramsey
The biopic of the eccentric pianist Liberace, who arranged piano concerts with Eltonjon's pomp, gathered thousands of people in the 70s and also preferred feathers and gilding outside the stage. Both Michael Douglas and Matt Damon do something indescribable in the roles of the young artist and his lover, not to mention the bed scenes.
Passion Don Juan
Producer: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Danz, Glenn Hadley, Brie Larson, Rob Brown, Jeremy Luke, Italy Ricci, Lindsay Brod, Amanda Perez
In the outgoing year, Gordon-Levitt made his debut in directing, shooting himself in the ambiguous role of a narcissistic jerk who is obsessed with porn and prefers Scarlett Johansson’s own hand. From the film, however, there remains a dubious aftertaste: it seems to be very funny, but still arrogant, and like Gordon-Levitt sneers at his image of a sex symbol, but isn't it too often that he then shows the press in the frame?
Thaw
Producer: Valery Todorovsky
Cast: Evgeny Tsyganov, Alexander Yatsenko, Anna Chipovskaya, Victoria Isakova, Mikhail Efremov, Svetlana Kolpakova, Yana Sekste, Nina Dvorzhetskaya, Pavel Derevyanko
Despite the fact that we all call “The Thaw” a serial, in the credits it is old-fashioned called a television movie. This is a story about Soviet filmmakers and two types of men - a hysterical idealist and a principled asshole. The last one was brilliantly played by Evgeny Tsyganov, proving that some assholes are not as hopeless as they seem at first glance.

10 main dances of the year
"Everytime" in the "Otyazny vacation"
It’s not that any of us need a reason to shed Britney Spears’s "Everytime" song, but the recent Harmony Korina film deprived us of any opportunity not to. The top of the composition, consisting, recalling of James Franco, playing the piano, the balaclava with the unicorns on the half-naked girls and the glaring scenes of the group robbery is a dance. To be more precise - a round dance, but with one significant amendment: this is a round dance with shotguns.
Twerking
Singer Miley Cyrus is definitely worth saying thank you for the fact that twerk in English has officially become a word for "low thigh sexual movements". How soon the terms will be required for indecent behavior on a ball for demolishing buildings or sticking out tongues in the way that only Miley and some horses can do is unknown.
Harlem shake
Either you did it. Or your friends did it. Either your cleaning woman's niece did this with her boring work colleagues. No, enough, you yourself know everything. One has only to note that this is the only dance on the list that even a washing machine can perform.

10 events of the year in the world of beauty
Deal: Angelina Jolie Mastectomy
The actress wrote a column in The New York Times about the preventive double mastectomy she had done. The text caused a flurry of responses and reactions and once again reminded everyone about the problem of breast cancer and how important it is to be responsible: in relation to loved ones and yourself. Angelina - well done.
Haircut: Pixie-ish
Beyonce, Leah Seydoux, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and the omnipresent Miley are just some famous girls who decided to have a short haircut (each, however, for various reasons). "Hottest trend", sorry.
Scale: Marc Jacobs Beauty
The new line of cosmetics Marc Jacobs is striking not with quality (bloggers, powder and blush pretty packed lip bloggers praise except for a nice appearance), but with the number of items: 120 units of lipstick, eye shadow, gloss, varnish, mascara and other things. In fairness: in the same year, YouTube star Michelle Fan, with the support of L'Oreal, released a collection of decorative cosmetics Em, in which there are exactly two times more funds than in Marc Jacobs Beauty, but there were significantly less talk about it.

The main events of the year that changed the lives of women
Jennifer Lawrence - Woman of the Year
Not the smartest, not the most beautiful, amazingly open - the world is going crazy over it, and so are we. BuzzFeed makes a special listing “Not so she is stupid”, the masters call on TV shows, and in the list of Google requests for the year she is on the 23rd place. Meanwhile, Lawrence refuses to lose weight at the request of the producers and offers them "you can go fuck yourself" in an interview. She tells how the hotel cleaner found her numerous anal plugs, which the actress hid under the bed. She advises ladies to “study their vagina” and admits that she likes to shoot in water most of all for the opportunity to urinate at any moment. A crowd of younger fans loves her for Katniss Everdeen from the “Hunger Games” - a feminist in the square, who is torn between two men, simultaneously saving the world and herself.
Lady Gaga against Photoshop in gloss
At the ceremony of the magazine Glamor "Woman of the Year" singer Lady Gaga criticized the gloss policy on the endless embellishment of reality. Slowly and sedately, she resented Carnegie Hall on stage and wished the editors to put Malala Yusufzai on the cover instead. “I feel that my skin looks too perfect. My hair looks too soft. I don’t look like that when I wake up in the morning. I don’t even look like that,” said the singer, implying her makeup for the evening. "Writing about changes is right. But I would like to see the changes on your covers. When the cover changes, the culture changes." Not the most appropriate speech at the Glamor ceremony, but obviously the most important in the history of the magazine.
Women on tv
There are amazingly many women on television, and they not only play, but also shoot, write scripts and perform with stand-ups. The Nashville series - an American musical drama with two main characters who fight for the career of country singers - was created by Callie Khury, author of Thelma and Louise, and one of the actresses migrated from American Horror History, the last season with main characters women, yes and witches. Claire Danes drives the audience crazy in Homeland. Tina Fey and Amy Poeler are leading Golden Globe, showing that girls are joking better, and the public buzzes with displeasure when the TV series Orange Is the New Black about women in jail is coming out. And that's not all: a transgender woman plays a transgender woman in it.

Why man 2013 - woman
By the end of 2013, we can say that the man of the year is a woman: in culture, society, media and politics, it was women who set the tone for the last 12 months. To summarize the results of emancipation, we asked a man, deputy. Poster editor-in-chief Gosha Birger, who advanced a fascinating theory about how men helped feminists to create a new image of a woman, and explained what to do next.
