Cheekbones, lips, nose: 20 strobing and contouring

We recently showed and comprehended popular makeup trends: strobe, contouring (or sculpting) and baking. Despite the fact that nationwide love is now almost completely pulled over the strobing, sculpture is also a familiar habit to many and, with quality performance, is quite a viable technique. We tell you how you can give the skin a natural glow and emphasize the relief of the face - and how to apply them.

Cream highlighters

For strobing cream products are more suitable. Oily or liquid textures themselves give the skin a moist radiance (therefore, both petroleum jelly and transparent lip gloss are suitable if you are ready to put up with something sticking to them), and pearl of varying degrees of elegance enhances it. In addition, it is usually in cream products that mother-of-pearl, as they like to say, is delicate, that is, it gives the surface a smooth, "photoshop" shine, and does not flicker with discernible sparkles (this is what Guerlain, for example, sinned). In principle, any base for make-up with sparkles will be suitable for strobe, but manufacturers, too, of course, rushed to release specialized tools. Among them, for example, the famous multifunctional sticks NARS - we advise you to take a closer look at the shade of Copacabana - and a transportable bottle of Dior's white whitish highlighter.

Powder highlighters

Nevertheless, there are worthy shining powder. It is not that, as a general rule, they should be applied on oily skin: they do not have a lack of natural luster, and in most cases it should be nailed. But for those who simply do not like creamy textures, dry highlighters are just right. It is better to look for them in luxury or professional brands: this is the case when an expensive tool is more likely to be successful (cheap ones often sin with large glitter). By the way, if you choose a matte highlighter, no strobe will come out, but it will turn out to give your face a volume - this option is for oily skin just right. A guide to dry matte highliders is meaningless (it’s, in fact, just light powder), and also cream-colored - separately they are sold only by professional brands, and the rest are included in the sets for sculpting. Graceful shining powders, in the general opinion, well succeed Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, The Balm and brands of mineral cosmetics. Well, it’s worth exploring the Christmas collections more closely: Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Dior, who have everything in order with the quality of sparkles, almost always produce cool, limited highlighters for the new year.

For cream contouring

If you're new to sculpture, cream textures are the best starting point. They can be layered to infinity, thereby changing the depth of the shadow. In addition, they do not freeze for a long time, so if you make a mistake with the area of application, you can erase the pigment even with your finger (in extreme cases, cover it with a concealer). Companies are only interested in the interest to the new and do not get tired of releasing cream contouring products in different formats. Lancôme and Clinique have thick sticks, completely liquid in the package as if from a lip gloss - in our favorite Korean brand Dr. Jart +, pencils - in Smashbox (tutorial is attached). The palette of dark concealers H & M is also suitable for an easy underline of the cheekbones and the correction of the facial contours - however, only to owners of a warm skin tone.

For powdery contouring

Despite the availability and friendliness of cream contouring agents, they often start with powdery ones. If you have already filled your hand with dry textures or you have oily skin, you can also do sculpting with them. The main thing to remember is to draw a shadow with a shining tool impossible. Therefore, for example, brilliant bronzers are not suitable for the task. Bronzers are generally needed to give a face a shade of tan, so they are not suitable for sculpture and because of the overly warm shade. Recall that if you want to really drown the shadow under the cheekbone, you need to put a cold shade under it, like in the ideal blush Dolce & Gabbana Tan, Manly Pro palettes and the specialized INGLOT series. The warmer the medium, the less sharp the shadow will be, so if you already have well-defined cheekbones, shades are quite suitable as warmer as on a MUFE or Kevyn Aucoin palette.

Brushes and sponges

All cream can be applied with your fingers. So faster, and often more convenient: the substance warms up from the warmth of the hands and lays thinner. If you don’t want to soil your hands, a cream highlighter or sculpturing tool can be shaded with the same sponge as the foundation cream was applied - as a rule, their surface is large enough not to mix at least two products. You can also use brushes: apply a flat synthetic "tongue" to the agent, and fluffy and thick to shade. With feathering powder means you will probably have to suffer, but a comfortable brush with a natural bristle is half the success. Do not forget just to powder the area of application before dry contouring: otherwise the pigment will lie unevenly, and it will not work to erase it as easily as cream.
