Instead of meditation: 14 elegant ceramics instagrams
Pottery is a great hobby, which is experiencing a new round of popularity: it is difficult to come up with a more meditative occupation than working with hands with clay. If you don’t have the strength and desire to master the basics of modeling and handling the potter's wheel, but ceramics are inspiring, you should pay attention to the social networks. We have collected several cool accounts - studios and individual masters, for which you should subscribe. Do not forget about those ceramists who appeared with us before: Eric Landon and Chris Casey.
Clay Collective
Clay Collective is a small London ceramics studio in which no more than twelve members can be at the same time: it is supposed that in small groups it is more convenient for craftsmen to share experiences and come up with joint projects. In the Clay Collective instagram, the works of her ceramists are laid out - this is not only minimalistic tableware and flower pots, but also sculptures, earrings, and blanks of future works.
Atelier stella
Instagram studio Stella Baggot, master of ceramics from Brighton. Stella says that she is inspired by the works of the Cornish, Italian and Swedish potters of the fifties and sixties of the last century, but tries to give them their own character: each of her pottery, mug or vase is a separate character. Our favorite is these guys with succulents.
The object enthusiast
The Object Enthusiast is an American Emily Reinhardt blog. She works a lot with golden glaze and deliberately does not invent an appointment for her pots and plates: some can use them as vases, others as cups. We like them for their laconic form and simple, but not boring design.
Maggie Boyd Ceramics
Maggie Boyd is an artist working with ceramics. She makes circles, pots, vases and bowls of simple shapes, which she then paints by hand. Pottery for Maggie is also a platform for expression: in her works, for example, she talks about transgenderness and struggles with imposed standards of beauty.
Anna Beam
Anna Bim is an American from Maryland who now lives in London. Bim is engaged not only in ceramics, but also in bags and accessories, and also makes sculptures made of paper - all works combine the same style and Anna's love for bright prints and collage techniques.
Andrea Roman
Andrea Roman was born in Mexico, but now lives and works in London. It is inspired by nature (stone slabs, sand, soil) - hence the muted tones (ocher, brown, cool pink) and the minimalist design of the works. Roman has his own brand - AR Ceramics, for which she tries to produce a new collection every four months. You can see old works on the site.
Grace mccarthy
Despite the fact that the potter’s wheel remains the basic tool of Grace McCarthy, she tries to use in her works not only clay, but other materials as well - most often wood. In addition, Grace is experimenting with colors and patterns - from modest strips of paint to complex patterns.
Lily pearmain
Lily Permain says that she likes "straight lines, smooth edges and unusual corners, as well as bright colored surfaces." She makes simple dishes with bright patterns, but we like breast-shaped cups most of all - it is unlikely that they are comfortable to drink, but they will definitely decorate the house.
Milly dent
Instagram artist from Sydney, working with ceramics. Milli Dent loves laconic design, bright colors and carefully considers the shape of objects - there are complex geometric cups, and glasses with grooves for fingers, to make them easier to hold, and dishes with an interesting texture.
Takashi endo
Takashi Endo is a self-taught potter from Japan whose works are so popular that in order to buy them, one has to spend three to six months on a waiting list. His ceramics is distinguished from others by a love of minimalism in everything, including color - most of his dishes are black, white or silver.
