Vintage collector Olga Samodumova about favorite outfits
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE"we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell related stories. This week our heroine is Olga Samodumova, the founder of the Peremotka vintage project. She spoke about purchases at auctions in New York, femininity and love of fashion of the 60s.
I am engaged in my vintage project, and it is not surprising that my wardrobe now consists almost entirely of vintage. Most of all I look for and find vintage clothes in New York, and I mostly buy shoes at sales in Moscow. Perhaps my style can be called original. I love unique things out of fashion trends and time. I am a real collector and hunter, so my attitude to things is special - professional. However, I try not to become attached to the material - there is a lot of beauty in the world.
COMME des GARÇONS dress, Gray Goose boots, vintage bag
COMME des GARÇONS has bought a long black velvet dress in Milan many years ago. He has a very deep neckline, so I usually wear a top or short T-shirt under him. It is moderately evening and moderately rock and roll. I wear a pair of Gray Goose Cossacks in winter and summer. They are universal and suitable for all occasions. The bag is vintage, but I suspect the chain may be silver. Need to check!
COMME des GARÇONS dress, Maison Martin Margiela boots
White dress COMME des GARÇONS with a grid - the legendary. I bought, as they say, for the love of art back in the late 90s, when I worked at the Moscow Leform. It lived up to sales and so it turned out in my wardrobe. Wore only a couple of times in my life, but I love him very much! Now this dress is a rare collectible item for connoisseurs. These Margiela tabi boots are one of the first in my collection and bought at Leform at the same time as the dress. Initially, the shoes were black, but a couple of years ago, after several restorations, I painted them white. Now they have a second life.
Mollie Parnis Vintage Dress, Nameless Shoes
A golden dress in little sequins is a vintage of the 60s. In a way, it found me in New York itself when I first started doing vintage. It is noteworthy that the dress is the work of the American designer Mollie Parnis, whose things were worn by the first ladies of the United States from Mamie Eisenhower in the 50s to Betty Ford in the 70s. So I got one. True, so far never wore it: it is waiting for a special occasion. Shoes - French brand, whose name I do not remember, but they are definitely with a good name. I bought them in the Moscow DAD. I love the fact that they look vintage and made very well. Besides burgundy velvet - always supersexual.
Vintage dress, shoes Manolo Blahnik
Black evening dress to the floor - the work of the English designer of the 80s, who also sewed couture things for other houses. Unfortunately, I do not remember his name, but sorry. His dress reminds me of Thierry Mugler stuff from the same period. My dress, of course, is still waiting for its special hour. Found it in New York at a vintage exhibition. Manolo Blahnik's black velvet shoes look like ballerina's pointe shoes — a reminder of my choreographic past.
Dress and clutch Maison Martin Margiela, boots REVILLON by Rick Owens
Black dress Maison Martin Margiela - just the very "little black dress that should be in the wardrobe of any woman." My little black dress, of course, with a joke: with a corset and a cut-smell. Wore once in a lifetime a few years ago at school graduation daughter. Constantly had to control the cut on the leg. The rest of the dress - chic! He has a very beautiful element at the back at the waist - something from the Japanese kimono. Bought it in the "Kuznetsk Bridge 20" on sale. I do not understand why the most beautiful things remain on sale? Probably because of their impracticality.
In my wardrobe there are two pairs of identical boots: these and gray suede. This couple found a friend on eBay, the second - in 2006 in Paris Colette. The first seemed a little: two pairs are always better than one, is not it?
Pierre Cardin Vintage Dress, Maison Martin Margiela Shoes
The blue dress Pierre Cardin is the vintage of the 70s of my favorite French designer. The dress is like a sophisticated (not afraid of the word) and a strict silhouette and helps to feel feminine. Everything has its time, and these shoes Maison Martin Margiela, probably the last strange shoes in my life. At one time, she wanted them so much that she made a personal order for them through the Kuznetsky Most 20 concept store. Replace my classic shoes.
Dress Alexander McQueen, Muji Sneakers
This Alexander McQueen dress was bought in second-hand in New York. I love this thing for a bright print, somehow resembling my pioneering past. Dress summer and, as they say, in the feast and in the world. I wear with white sneakers.
Dress Nina Donis, Muji sneakers
This is one of the most beloved and oldest dresses of Nina Donis. I think he is more than ten years old! There are three components of one hundred percent success and eternity of the dress: crepe de chine, peas and length to the floor. I'm sure my granddaughter will still wear it with pleasure.
Christian Dior Vintage Dress, Chanel Shoes, Vintage Bag
Bright pink vintage Christian Dior dress dated 1964, when Yves Saint Laurent stood at the helm of the house. Bought it in New York at auction. Like many girls, I love the clothes of the 60s and pink color. I did not expect such a bright print from the house of Christian Dior, which is also relevant now. This once again confirms, Yves Saint Laurent - a genius out of time.
Chanel silk silver shoes look like Cinderella's shoes. I wear on special occasions. A plastic handbag on a silver chain with bugs on the sides is a vintage of the 60s from the Peremotka NY Vintage collection.
Vintage dress, Paco Rabanne bag, Muji sneakers
A silver paper dress is a very rare instance and again from my favorite 60s, which were an explosive era after the Puritan 50s. This is a collectible item found in New York. The dress is designed for parties, so I’m anxiously restoring it after each exit.
Handbag made of metal links - vintage Paco Rabanne of the same 60s. The accessory found a friend on eBay and gave it to me. Yes, it happens! Even today, this thing looks very modern, and it is still being copied.
Geoffrey Beene Vintage Jumpsuit, Chanel Belt, Maison Martin Margiela Shoes, Vintage Clutch
I love overalls. This 70s silk jumpsuit is the work of Geoffrey Beene, one of my favorite American designers of the past. I wear in the evening when I want to feel free. The metal belt of Chanel with pearl colors always, when necessary, emphasizes the waist. The famous transparent tabi boots Maison Martin Margiela is the tenth pair of this model from my collection. I bought from my friend Olya Karput in Kuznetsky Most 20. Expensive, but I do not regret, because they have already rescued hundreds of times. Wilardy vintage plastic clutch is just a beautiful accessory and uplifting.
Sportmax helmet, Helmut Lang feathers
Sportmax helmet could not be left in GUM. Sellers asked me: "You really will this Wearing? "Of course! This is a thing from the collection of Antonio Marras for Sportmax: Antonio never had a lack of ideas. Feathers of the Helmut Lang era, when Helmut himself worked.
Sportmax vintage belt and belt
Sometimes I like gold, and here on the belt there is still a beautiful female profile.
Suspender
Suspenders with vintage watches - a gift to my friends Smoke. Found this unusual accessory somewhere in Paris.
Necklace
There are several ironic necklaces. With the lips - the work of artist Kati Bochavar. Near plastic - a find from the 70s from the New York collection of Peremotka.
Collection Courrèges bags
These bags of different colors are bought at different times in different cities: Moscow, Milan and Paris. She used to wear them all the time, but now they are rather part of my collection.
Walter Van Beirendonck Mascot
My favorite talisman now is the magical creation of the Antwerp avant-gardist Walter van Beyrendonk. The talisman has only one eye, it turns out that this is my "third".
Vintage Jewelry Collection
I always liked old stuff. It is chic, elegance and style. In addition, the 70-80s passed before my eyes, so the memories of my childhood are connected with them. I have a whole collection of vintage jewelry from the 20s to the 70s. These are beautiful rare things, handmade. There today are less and less.
Necklace with unicorn
Another talisman is a necklace with a unicorn from the Metropolitan collection, also made by modern artist Kati Bochavar. Items from the Metropolitan collection were created when Katya lived in New York. The velvet strap resembles a fence in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
