Catherine Deneuve, actress and synonym for French style

IN RUBRIC "STYLE" WE TELL ABOUT PEOPLE, outstanding not only for their talent, but also for their appearance. Today, our heroine - actress Catherine Deneuve, who has released the film "For cigarettes" Emmanuelle Berko.

The daughter of actors Maurice Dorleac and Rene Deneuve made his film debut in 1957, but becomes famous after the release of "Cherbourg Umbrellas" by Jacques Demi seven years later. In the 60s, Deneuve released two films that made her an object of fantasy for many generations of men: Roman Polanski's “Aversion” and Louis Bunuel's “Day Beauty”, where her cold beauty is set off by sexual perversity. After filming the advertisement for Chanel No. 5, there is no one left in the world who would not know her name. In the 80s, Tony Scott was the first to notice that Catherine Deneuve’s beauty is timeless, and takes it off in a vampire drama with David Bowie and Susan Sarandon, and in the 90s the actress gets her first Oscar for Indochina Regis Varnier. During his career, Deneuve became friends with designer Yves Saint Laurent, who was her main support in fashion. He helped Catherine to form a style, dressing her in the movies and in life (and often the same). Perhaps the duet of Deneuve and Saint-Laurent was as significant as the union of actress Audrey Hepburn and designer Hubert de Givenchy. Deneuve continues to make films (next year we will see her in Trois Coeurs with Charlotte Gainsbourg) and it seems that she will never change her style: she formed it in the 60s and 70s and since then has influenced many designers. We recall the basics of the style of the French actress.

Bulk styling

Lush mop of hair has become a trademark of Catherine Deneuve: now it is repeated by the stylists of shows Altuzarra and Moschino. At various times, the actress wore a bang or removed it with a tape, and either dismissed her hair or put it in a tail or a bun.

Arrows and blush

Arrows - the main element of makeup in the spirit of the 1960s - became popular, thanks also to Deneuve. She often wore neat black arrows and painted eyelashes with blue-black mascara. Another feature of her basic make-up is a rouge, darker skin by several tones.

Shaggy fur coat

Bulky fur coats are one of the notions of Yves Saint Laurent, which became a feature of his corporate style in the 70s. They were worn and Catherine Deneuve: in such an actress appeared, for example, on Andy Warhol's “Factory”.

Mini dress

Deneuve always preferred mini: she wore short and trapezoid dresses, and skirts up to mid-thigh length. The exceptions were knee-length sheath dresses that she wore at special occasions.

Kitten heels

Perhaps the 1960s, with their Mary Quant and Paco Rabanne, were in the meantime when it was almost impossible to imagine anything other than kitten heels as shoes. Deneuve preferred shoes and boots with low heels and with a square nose. Now such copies & Other Stories, a new brand of the H & M Group, and a hundred more brands.
