The storytellers
We have already talked about InRussia, an English-language website dedicated to Russian culture. Last week, the site launched the multimedia project The Storytellers, on which InRussia worked together with the British Council. Project participants - Shakespearer Andrew Dickson, writers Alice Ganiyeva and Joe Dantorn, critic Konstantin Milchin, musician Griff Reese, media artist Francesca Panetta, photographer Maxim Avdeev, and cameraman Arseny Khachaturian - set off on a journey through five cities through which the Trans-Siberian railway passes. The name of the project refers to the essay by Walter Benyamin "The Narrator" about how travel helps to write new works.
During the trip, the heroes saw Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk. Thanks to the interactive map on the project website, you can follow the journey - documentary videos about the heroes' journeys by train and each of the cities they visited, as well as essays, reports and numerous photographs.
