Uggs, crocs and velor: Do not be ashamed
There are hardly any people in the worldwho doesn’t know what crocs are: these slippers scolded and listed “the ugliest shoes in the world”, despite their convenience and comfort. But in September, an amazing thing happened: Christopher Kane brought the girls in crocs to the podium - the very rubber ones (in fact, they are made of special material from the kroslayt) clogs.
The appearance of slippers on the podium for most viewers remains a joke for fun. Crocs are still a "shameful" wardrobe unit.
Kane did not just base his famous design, but entered into a formal partnership with the manufacturer. The public predictably rebelled, ridiculing the "marble" croxes in stones in all social networks. The Scottish designer even had to make a public statement in defense of his new creation: to all those who criticize, “if they are not God,” he advised at the presentation to keep his opinion to himself. About the collaboration itself, confessing a love for Crocs products, Kane says: “I always work with unexpected objects and combinations, turning everyday life into affordable luxury. Marble prints give a very earthy feeling, and croxes are a very earthly thing, no matter what you wear you wear them with an evening gown or jeans. Crocs are probably the most comfortable shoes in the world, and I like that they are quite wonderful and that they are often called just that they are “ugly.” There is something very naive in their form baby, and on their feet they look awkward. It is easy to penetrate the designer's tenderness to this ridiculous shoes, especially after his convincing explanations. It is difficult to argue with the fact that it is more convenient in her summer nothing. So far, however, their appearance on the podium for most viewers remains a joke for fun. Crocs are still a “shameful” wardrobe unit, they can only walk a dog or wander around the dacha - 70% of respondents conducted by the British Vogue on Twitter, are convinced that these sneakers will never be worn. 10%, however, are ready for the experiments - but only if their pair of crosslaced clogs is written by Kane. Will defense eventually collapse and, if so (which there is almost no doubt), will it last long? We'll see in the spring.
The first theme of croxes in public space, by the way, was raised not by the Scot: in different shootings sneakers flicker, albeit rarely, but neatly, but one of the ManRepeller blog editors, Hailey Naman, suggested that they could become new white sneakers "- that is, universal shoes for any image. The material in which this was said was prepared in direct partnership with Crocs, which means there is every reason to believe that the company is actively storming the fashion industry. Manufacturers of slippers hope to rehabilitate publicly despised shoes and stop closing their own stores due to lack of interest in the product. It is customary in the company to be proud of the fact that “Crocs are buying alone and for life”, but such an approach cannot constantly increase sales. Capturing a more fashionable audience that buys even without urgent need would help the business.
Crocs is not the only such case. UGG is also actively trying to change the reputation of the manufacturer of “shameful” shoes to the manufacturer of “fashionable”, for the description of the products of which the word “fugly” has firmly established. Sheepskin shoes, which only six years ago was incredibly popular, managed to acquire contradictory connotations. In order to make it again very trendy, the UGG team attracted Briton Alex Chang, and she, in turn, called for help the star troopers. The lucky ticket to the fashionable present for one more star of the zero, plush suit Juicy Couture, was the collaboration with Demna Gvasalia. The designer opened the latest couture Fashion Week with a modern version of famous clothes.
There are many examples of how things that were once considered exclusively signs of bad taste make their way into great fashion. Socks with sandals, tracksuits, fake nails, shuttle check bags, underwear sticking out from under the clothes - all these things and combinations had a golden time when the “bad taste” suddenly became good. Some of the lucky ones were finally recognized and, not excluded, irrevocably. Even thin kapron tights, which literally yesterday were branded by all who feel like it, have recently returned to the shows en masse.
A few years ago, I accidentally left the house in socks and rubber slippers - those that were then worn exclusively in the pool. An oversight was discovered only in the metro: by that time I was already catastrophically late for the university, so I had to spend the whole day in just that form. Then I absolutely didn’t want the oncoming people to see me as a person who without hesitation puts on rubber sneakers with socks. All day all the acquaintances who fell on the way, I definitely told the story of my impossible absent-mindedness, pushing them with my elbow into the sides so that they certainly would not decide that I was from "these".

It's embarrassing to remember this now. Would a similar trifle cause the same reaction now? Of course no. First, with age, I want to believe, people pacify snobbery, reacting to the little things in life much calmer. Secondly, rubber plops in tandem with socks or not today will surprise no one. They lost their negative connotations, having established themselves in the official fashion and having appeared in several dozen fashion shootings. Fluffy slippers Rihanna for Puma or rubber from the Vans and Nintendo collaboration have to hunt today. He put his hand on the rehabilitation of massive slippers, by the way, the same Christopher Kane, who led them to the podium in the spring-summer 2012 season. Checkered bags, tracksuits with three stripes, leopard mini, rhinestones are all alien to a person who is passionate about fashion. , as long as these details are not taken into account by one of the designers and puts them in a completely different context.
With ghosts like zero rhinestones, logos, plush costumes and false nails in Russia in general is not easy. Many are so accustomed to the fact that all of this, put together, should certainly sound a fashionable alarm that they cannot relax yet. But just to relax, allow yourself to open up in a new way and finally start looking at “not your own” without prejudice - this is what needs to be done now. Instead of waiting until the designers again remember and raise this or that thing to the cult, you should get it out of the closet and start wearing it right now - just because you want to. Snobbery is generally a bad thing, and no one should make excuses for their love for crox or ugg.
