How to prepare a house for the fall so that it is not so sad
Text: Olga Antonova
I want the summer to never end, but the weather inevitably begins to deteriorate, the length of daylight is reduced, and the greens on the street turns yellow and gradually disappears. It seems that the autumn period cannot be liked by anyone, but in fact it does not need to try to “live through” - it can be lived with no less pleasure than summer. We tell you how to prepare for the first cold weather and what to do in your house right now, so that autumn becomes not a painful time, but a natural and pleasant continuation of summer.
Warm up
First of all, you need to take care not to freeze until you turn on the heating: be sure to check the tightness of the windows and doors and, if necessary, warm them and seal them. If every year you have to sleep under two blankets and in socks, then you should attend to buying a good heater or one, but very, very warm blanket. Also, be sure to check the radiators - leaks or an inoperative switch during the first frost can significantly damage your health, your nerves and nerves of your neighbors below.
Think of the light
Summer long sunny days are over, and every day it becomes darker - this is one of the main drawbacks of autumn. Getting up in the morning is getting harder, and dim and gloomy artificial lighting does not improve the situation. First, it is necessary to wash the windows - by wiping summer dust from them, you will definitely notice the difference and for some time you will enjoy a clear and bright landscape outside the window. Secondly, it is necessary to wipe the chandeliers more often and change the old tarnished light bulbs to new ones, bright and with a warm pleasant light: they will make the home furnishings begin to play in a new way, and your eyes will not be so tired.
Thirdly, a special alarm clock with a built-in lamp that turns on and gradually increases the brightness of the light for the set time before the call will help you to enjoy each new morning. Light falling on the skin and eyelids reduces the production of melatonin, one of the main actions on the body is the regulation of sleep. These alarms mimic the dawn, and waking up becomes much easier.
Take care of food
The end of summer and the beginning of autumn are the fruitful period. It's time to dry a bag of apples, roll up a few cans of squash caviar or even jam, squeeze all the juices from your favorite sweet pears, finally make cider and put a couple of watermelons on the balcony - if they are properly stored, they won't spoil until the new year, but eat them in November is also very nice. During the season it makes sense to stock up on your own favorite tasty and healthy canned food or dried fruit - the main thing here is not to overdo it. Think about how many blanks you have time to eat in the fall, winter and spring, and give the extra to friends and relatives. Otherwise, jars of jam and vegetable caviar will accumulate in a snowball and take up extra space at home. In addition, throwing personally rolled up blanks in a few years will be trivially offensive.
Check out the seasonal wardrobe
It is necessary to prepare well for the autumn cold weather - make sure that demi-season boots or boots are in order, if necessary, take shoes to the workshop, change taps or repair a zipper. It is time to take out your favorite warm turtlenecks, sweaters and coats, conduct a wardrobe audit once again and buy the missing items as quickly as possible - it can quickly become cold, and the process of finding the right clothes is not always simple and fast. Now is the time to make sure that in the fall and winter you have something to walk around and not be cold.
No matter how sad, you need to gradually wash, clean, disassemble and clean summer clothes and shoes. Thousands of video tutorials on YouTube will help you to compact your clothes quickly, you can learn the basic rules for storing and cleaning things from Marie Kondo (there may be more space in your apartment than you thought), and vacuum bags, shoe organizers and small items can save space. good hangers.
Make room for new things.
The general autumn harvesting has exactly the same advantages as the general spring one - it will be possible to start life from (literally) a clean sheet after getting rid of summer dust, throwing away a heap of unnecessary things, or even a small rearrangement or redecoration. Also it is necessary to disassemble the balcony, especially if it is open - frequent rains and snow can harm things that are “temporarily” there. Think about the place for winter equipment: perhaps in November you will need skis, skates, snowboarding, ice-boats and sledges, which should be kept closer. Similarly, with the first cold snaps, you can start to clean away the rollers, skate, scooter or bicycle, to free up space.
Fight dust and mildew
In the heat conditioners and ventilation work especially often and intensively, collecting dirt, plaque, mold and fungi spores, which can significantly harm health (from bronchial asthma and weakening of immunity to pneumonia and rash) and lead to rapid breakdown of equipment. To make the apartment easier to breathe and to sleep more comfortably, you should thoroughly clean the air conditioners (perhaps it is worth calling the master for this), ventilation grilles and humidifiers. If the mold has had time to grow and sneak onto the walls and ceiling, be sure to call a specialist as soon as possible to remove it from the apartment and ventilation. It’s not worth fighting on your own - the chance is high not to achieve the desired result and get health problems. Understand with ventilation, and immediately inhale deeply.
Think hot water
If an electric boiler is in the apartment, it must be descaled: if you do not do this for a long time, the water will heat up more slowly or not reach the desired temperature at all, and the boiler will consume more electricity. Scale reduces the efficiency of the heater and may eventually lead to breakage due to overheating. If you are confident enough, you can try to clean the boiler yourself, otherwise it’s better to call the wizard. It is worth taking care of proper maintenance of the equipment: change spare parts and filters in time - you don’t feel like staying in the late autumn without hot water.
Prevent dirt
The autumn period is associated with rain and dirt, and I want, if not sterile cleanliness, then at least to prevent the appearance of dirty stains on the floor and stains on the carpet. To save the situation in the hallway will help mats with a rubberized base on either side of the front door (no, wiping your feet on the door mat neighbors - a bad idea). The main thing is to wipe your feet carefully and not go beyond the rugs in outdoor shoes. For the latter, it is worth buying a pallet or taking a special place where dirty water will flow from it. Nice and warm slippers or socks with a comfortable rubber sole that protects against slipping will help your feet to escape from the omnipresent dust.
It will definitely be more pleasant to observe the cleanliness of the apartment with nice and comfortable brooms, mops and floor cloths - by the autumn season you can have time to buy new ones. If you really do not like to clean, carefully examine the market for technical innovations - electric brooms, a robot vacuum cleaner, a steam cleaner and many other appliances can make life easier and save time and effort. Before purchasing, be sure to read reviews and reviews, consult the vendors and determine if the new device is suitable for your apartment and your lifestyle so that the gadget does not remain forever in the original box. In any case, remember that at least small, but efforts to clean up will have to make.
Do not be sad
It is difficult to disperse the autumn blues, but you can try to warn - the main thing is not to let yourself get bored. Cold and dark autumn evenings - is there no reason to finally read those books that you set aside for later, watch your favorite series or tie a beautiful cape on a chair? If you like to plan, you can make a list of movies, TV shows, books or online courses that you would like to learn this fall. Take care of a soft and cozy blanket, scented candles and other little things uplifting - whether it's a year's supply of popcorn, a new sofa or a couple of dozen summer photos hanging on the wall.
