Riding a Star: Cosmos-inspired Cosmetics

Text: Moore Sobolev

Moore Sobolev, the author of the Fierce & Cute blog, once a week, makes a thematic selection for us from his cosmetics collection. The theme of the second selection was chosen space: how we love it, we have already told more than once.

Shadows Dior Cosmos

Dior Fusion cream, or rather mousse, shadows launched last fall were made with a clear eye on the Chanel Illusion d'Ombre series. They have a similar texture (Dior is a bit denser and drier), and jars generally differ only in logos. I do not claim: the Illusion d'Ombre - my favorite texture in the world, so that let the beauty becomes more. Cosmos is a hypnotically beautiful gray-blue shade with a lot of small iridescent sparks, and I alone paint them a full evening make-up.

Maybelline Rocket Mascara

Last year's Maybelline product and the star of their endlessly replenished line of bulk mascaras. I think Maybelline carcasses are among the best, if not the best in the mass market, but Rocket is not my favorite. It is named so not in honor of the rocket-like brush, as one might think, but because of the “quick-slip formula,” due to which eyelashes seem to be cosmically fast. To me, the mascara, despite the fact that it gives an outstanding volume, glues eyelashes, so you have to sit with a comb, which does not add cosmic velocities at all.

Shadows Clinique Galaxy

This year, the brand has completely renewed its series of shadows - they really have become pigmented and silky, more gel to the touch. Galaxy is perhaps the most successful quartet in the new line: a wonderful turquoise hue is worth buying, but the rest did not let us down - I like the dense bluish-white and dark blue with a shimmer. True, the right-most mate gray shaded worse than I would like. However, the brand proposes to use it as an eyeliner, and in this capacity the tint is clearly successful.

Shiseido Nebula Lip Gloss

The new Shiseido Lacquer Gloss lip gloss, to which this one also applies, is translucent, but at the same time quite bright. Nebula is a beautiful lavender hue, from which I personally would like a little more density - on my lips, not very pale, you can see mostly cold pink glitter and intelligent sparks, and from lavender there is only a reflection, as from the nebulae stated in the title.

Eyeko Cosmic Polish Nail Polish

In the assortment of fun British brand Eyeko, comparatively recently, there was a lot of things - until the brand decided to fall into the arms of Alex Chang and concentrate on eye makeup. Lucky was successful and funny, so I blame the rebranding. Cosmic Polish is a black base and a scattering of multi-colored sparkles - it is this idea of space that conveys my emotions about it most of all.

MAC Celestial Kiss Lip Gloss

This light apricot shine was released for the first time in the "space" mineral collection of the MAC, Heavenly Creatures, in 2012, and this spring was re-released as part of the A Fantasy of Flowers collection, which is on sale right now. The hue is quite basic, but due to its pleasant enveloping moisturizing texture and my love for the MAC brand, it is very cute.

Blush Chanel Star Dust

The limited shade of blush from the 2012 Christmas collection, to which I somehow breathe is particularly uneven. By themselves, they are very bright, with light application will be almost imperceptible (you can achieve quite decent color, however), but the sparkles in Star Dust shine exactly as they should according to the name, that is, strongly. A small and very frequent Shimmer apparently hints at an evening and a holiday, but I am ready to meet with them at any time.

Aroma Lagerfeld Sun Moon Stars

Actually, this fragrance is not from my own, but from my mom's collection, the Sun Moon Stars, became one of the first cosmetic gifts that I made to her. About 15 years have passed, Lagerfeld fragrances are not sold on the Russian market, and the bottle has long been devastated, but it remained with mom - for the sake of beauty and for sentimental considerations. I always terribly liked the smell myself - he was languid and restrained at the same time, I was well aware that I wanted to smell like that when I grew up.

China Glaze Meteor Shower nail polish

Lacquer brands love all space almost as much as I do, so there are a lot of names in the China Glaze portfolio. But for my selection, in my opinion, the Meteor Shower is the most suitable - lacquer, whose name perfectly describes the shade. This is a magically beautiful dark blue lacquer jelly texture, in which a variety of colored glitter floats and shimmers. Absolutely everything I love!

Orly Halley's Comet nail polish

A few years ago, the nail brand Orly released a collection of six varnishes dedicated to the cosmos. I collected it all - and it is still one of my favorite lacquer collections. Halley's Comet is a very beautiful volatile turquoise-golden shimmer that looks particularly good in water. The main thing is not to drown, after looking at your own manicure.
