Any lover of outdoor activities knows that a mobile phone is a very unreliable thing: the connection disappears exactly when it is needed most. And if the hike was delayed and you were for a long time out of the cellular coverage area, relatives and friends can begin to get seriously worried, without waiting for news from you.
In 2018, the company Somewear Labs conducted a successful campaign on Kickstarter and released the device Somewear Global Hotspot - it is much smaller than other satellite communicators, and it looks prettier. It is easy to attach to a backpack or put in a jacket pocket: the gadget allows you to send and receive messages, create routes or give an SOS signal. The device connects to the Iridium satellite network covering the entire earth's surface. In this case, Somewear Global Hotspot costs about four times cheaper than a satellite phone that connects to the same network.
