Bookmarks: Ten centuries of world history in one table
IN RUBRIC "IN BOOKMARKS" We talk about websites and online services - both useful and completely useless, but funny and amazing - which, in fact, should be added to favorites or added to the RSS-feed.
Arzamas
The educational project Arzamas is known for its historical educational programs in non-dull formats - be it a video explaining a complex concept in a few minutes, or an archive of Old Russian correspondence on birch bark. The new project Arzamas is a synchronous table on world history, in which Russia, the West and the East are compared. It covers one hundred forty events that took place over ten centuries: from the vocation of the Vikings and the first printed book to the Great French Revolution.
Unlike school lessons in history, the table gives an idea of the global picture: from it you can learn that Joan of Arc and Andrei Rublev lived in the era of the Great Chinese geographical discoveries, but for now there was a Time of Troubles in Russia, Don Quixote released . Soon the XIX and XX centuries will be added to the table.
