10 light summer colognes for women and men

Perfumery - a delicate and complex language and recommending it is risky - too much depends on individual preferences and moods. We decided not to complicate things and chose colognes as summer fragrances: the concentration of odorous substances in them is so small that the notes in the heat will not seem excessive.

Thirdman Eau Nomade

Rare American perfume brand, which produces only colognes. Her leitmotif is "minimalism, abstraction, quality and lightness." The name does not hint at the figure of the carrier and hides the name and identity of the perfumer so that nothing distracts from the fragrance itself. Thirdman has four colognes, in all from two to four notes, so it seems impossible to make a mistake with the choice. We chose the newest, Eau Nomade: it includes Indian cardamom, Sicilian lemon and red orange.

Byredo Sunday Cologne

The Swedish brand of former basketball player Ben Gorham is slowly replenished with colognes. New compositions are not invented, but they transform the existing ones: for example, the aromas of Sunday Cologne, Gypsy Water and Mister Marvelous came out in a specified concentration. Our choice is distinguished by the presence of patchouli, anise, incense and geranium. Everything, of course, is balanced by bergamot, but it is obvious that Sunday Cologne is not the easiest cologne, and the more interesting it is to try it out.

Maurer & Wirtz 4711 Original Eau de Cologne

Real Cologne water of 1792. It is clear that since then the quality of ingredients has changed, but the fact remains: in 2015, the fragrance is interfered with according to the formula of the XVIII century. It seems right for us to buy it in a huge 400-milliliter bottle to use according to all the rules, that is, not saving, since the price contributes to that. The main notes of orange, bergamot and slightly audible peach in 4711 Original Eau de Cologne are complemented by floral notes - jasmine, white lily, cyclamen - and slightly heavier moss, musk and cedar.

Diptyque l'eau des hesperides

The most rich in notes from the brand eau de cologne, L'eau des Hesperides contains a bitter orange, mandarin, lemon, red thyme, rosemary, peppermint, immortelle, and cedar and white musk. The mechanics are explained as follows: citrus fruits are the first to run out from the calm and understandable base of the tree and musk, then the herbs come out, and their varied notes - pepper and menthol mint and sweetness of the immortelle - beat one another and do not give to bored.

Juliette Has a Gun Gentlewoman

The brand calls the Gentlewoman a dedication to a self-confident woman who is not ashamed of her masculinity and the reincarnation of cologne in its classic sense. It is said that the modernity of the Gentlewoman is infused with notes of lavender and orange blossom and characteristic of Romano Ricci fragrances ambroxan (that same famous "molecule" of Geza Sean). All together, according to Juliette Has a Gun, it creates a strong but comfortable aroma with an equal number of masculine and feminine accents — with something — and it is difficult to argue with the timeliness of such positioning.

Parfums de Nicolaï Cologne Cedrat

Behind Parfums de Nicolaï is Patricia Nicolai, the granddaughter of Pierre Guerlain, a student of Jean-Paul Guerlain and the first of the women whom the French perfumers community called the best foreign perfumer. Cologne Cedrat, Patricia’s favorite scent, consists of only four notes: citron, bergamot, black pepper and patchouli. We like this non-boring minimalism and argues that Nikolai is perfectly able to build balanced compositions.

Atelier Cologne Collection Voyage

In the selection of colognes can not do without Atelier Cologne. We know firsthand how difficult it is to choose the one that you like the most from the pleasant fresh aromas of the brand, so we settled on a mini-collection. Firstly, you can find as many as seven different-sized colognes (with neroli, vanilla, amber and other notes), and secondly, you can at least take compact vials with you on a trip.

biehl parfumkunstwerke Gs03

The hard-to-pronounce biehl parfumkunstwerke is the brainchild of entrepreneur Torsten Beal. Biel is a cosmopolitan, and this is reflected even in his choice of perfumers: six of five different countries have already worked with biehl parfumkunstwerke. Over the first and so far the only cologne worked Geza Sean (that's why it is called that). Gs03 came out complex, if not bulky: in addition to citrus fruits, it contains juniper, Peruvian pepper, iris, rose oil, vetiver, musk, and even beaver castoreum.

Tabu dana

Rare bird, oriental floral fragrance, positioned as a female, in a concentration characteristic of colognes. It also has an orange note, but here it is absolutely not the main one and is interrupted by spices, amber, sandalwood, benzoin and flowers. Dana seems to be an excellent choice for those who are not enthusiastic about citrus fruits, but do not want to put on too loud a fragrance - well, and those who are bored with “fresh”.

Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud Eau de Cologne Concentrée

Suddenly, they found cologne in the heavyweight Acqua di Parma. Colonia Intensa Oud Eau de Cologne Concentrée is another refuge for someone who shuns clear citrus, likes aromas stronger and does not mind oud. The latter in this cologne almost solo: users of Fragrantica note that this is the most audible note of flavor. Besides him and the orange involved four more tangible notes: coriander, amiris, musk and leather. In general, Colonia Intensa Oud Eau de Cologne Concentrée really stands out on this list.
