10 clips that inspired the new collection of Nina Donis

Mark Nina Donis presented sketches, mudboard and lookbook of the spring-summer collection of 2015, which was shot by Natasha Ganelina. Working on a collection, Nina and Donis always combine many ideas and images. This time they included sportswear and swimwear of the 30s, ballet, Victorian style inherent in the new wave of the 80s (how his characters dressed, you should see in the photo chronicle of London The Blitz Club), as well as The strong influence of the colors of the Bauhaus school. Among other things, the designers were influenced by the Russian avant-garde graphics Alexandra Exter and the Polish artist Katarzyna Kobro, as well as the gothic, as she is shown in Addams Family, Edward Scissorhands and Hunger with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve.

The collection itself consists of tops, short shorts, wide trousers, luxurious midi length dresses, shirts, tops and shirts with corrugated elements. Made things in pure basic colors: white, black and red. At our request, Nina Neretina and Donis Pupis collected a video series and a music playlist that helped them in their work on this collection. It includes compositions by Ariel Pink, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Adam and the Ants, Lou Reed and others. The mood of the collection can now be fully felt, and the excellent music chosen by the designers can be heard all the New Year holidays.

Nina Neretina and Donis Pupis

Almost always, working on a collection, we first create a mood, and only then - a visual line to it. Music is for us this axis of mood, on which we string everything else. Simply the music for us is the main binding element. This time, the main theme was the British new romantics with their theatrical outfits, music, in which they mixed punk, pop hits and art clips, shot as mini-films.

In our playlist, in addition to new romantics, there are clear and concise things. For example, part of the triad ballet by Oscar Schlemmer, the choreographer and theater designer of the Bauhaus school. There is also a black and white clip of Propaganda, inspired by the non-existent character from Fritz Lang's movie "Doctor Mabuse". Not without the "Black Ballerina" Ariel Pink and color spots Laurie Anderson in the clip of video art founder, artist Nam June Pike. They just stand in contrast to the crazy and chaotically loaded images from the clips of the new romantics.
