Alisa Kuzembaeva: Clothes of the Future from Moscow

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is Alice Kuzembaeva, the founder of a personalized clothing brand and designer from Moscow. The girl already shows collections on the Fashion Scout platform in London, and Vogue Italia writes about her.

Alisa Kuzembaeva grew up in a family of architects and received her first diploma at the Moscow Architectural Institute. She chose her second education in the direction of fashion design - first in the Moscow Higher School of Consciousness, then in London: at the annual course in Central Saint Martins and at the magistracy of Royal College of Art. While studying in London, Alice had an internship in stamps specializing in complex prints: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Jonathan Saunders. The 2013 Alisa Kuzembaeva graduation collection rated Vogue Italia by including the designer in the magazine supplement Vogue Talents. Then the girl was noticed by Fashion Scout Kiev, so Alice showed her brand in Lodon. Six months later, a Moscow designer joined the Kiev showroom More Dash, presenting a new collection in Paris.

In the collections of Alisa Kuzembaeva you can feel the architectural preparation of the designer: clear lines, a game with geometric shapes and prints. Alice has voluminous tops, laconic skirts (straight and A-lines), wide trousers, and dresses. Some things in the spring-summer collection of 2015 are decorated with laser cutting, others with optical prints resembling the ripples of a color TV. Boxy jackets, for example, are made with a moire effect, it occurs when a laser-cut mesh and bright prints are applied. The autumn-winter collection includes faux fur items, sleeveless tops, pencil skirts, fleece culottes - all this can already be viewed on Style.com.

For me it is important to create not just a thing, but an entire puzzle that you want to consider. In this work, I always start from the basic idea - the core of the collection. So, in the spring-summer, they became cinematography. I thought about how to shift its dynamics onto things; hence the connection of prints with laser-cut elements. Of course, at first the knowledge of architecture prevented: for the clarity of the cut lines, one had to see a girl who would wear my clothes. Now I know for sure that the girl who wears my things is active, active and herself a creator. The dynamics and freedom, which is in my things, are great for her.
