James Franco video for the exhibition of works of the Renaissance

EVERY DAY IN THE WORLD APPEARS BEAUTIFUL OR IMPOSSIBLE BEAUTIFUL THINGSand some of them can be watched endlessly. Or at least a couple of minutes - to unload the brain, escape from the routine and let your eyes rest.

An exhibition dedicated to the heritage of the Della Robbia family, Renaissance masters who worked in the genre of glazed terracotta sculpture, opened at Sotheby's auction house in New York. The founder of the dynasty, Luca della Robbia, who lived in the 15th century, who was called Quattrocento in the history of Italian art, first began to cover figure-burned figured compositions with colored glaze, transferring the traditional technology of making mails to non-decorative art.

Creating a video for the opening of the exhibition curators have entrusted James Franco - the director, artist and, in general, the man of many talents, who created his interpretation of Della Robbia's heritage. "I was fascinated by the brightness and brilliance of the glaze in the sculptures of della Robbia, especially in the images of people who seemed to be frozen in eternity," Franco told about his idea. "To show these sculptures in a modern way, I decided to make them alive and emphasize the glazing process. I chose time-lapse photography so that viewers could enjoy this process over time and feel the liquid slowly covering living sculptures. "

The exhibition will run until November 18. For those who will not be up to this time in New York, Sotheby's have released a beautiful catalog that you can browse for free on the website of the auction house.
