Agi & Sam: Men's things girls want to wear

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK"Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroes this week are the founders of the Agi & Sam unisex brand, the British designers Agi Mdomulla and Sam Cotton, who managed to create a collection for Topman and receive a British Fashion Award for the best young menswear brand.

The British press started talking about Agi Mdumullah and Sam Cotton after the 2012 fall collection, which designers created from recycled bottles. The couple met during an internship at Alexander McQueen and founded their own brand three years ago. Aghi and Sam are famous for rethinking the traditional men's costume with each collection, weaving multicultural style elements into it. For example, almost every collection of Agi & Sam has skirts with pants. In addition, designers love to work with color and are not without a sense of humor.

At the London Men's Fashion Week ended yesterday, Mdumulla and Cotton surprised many. On the podium came the model, whose faces were decorated with masks from the designer LEGO. It is noteworthy that in the work on the collection the children were helped by the designers: Agi and Sam interviewed elementary school students about what kind of clothes they would like to wear. This is how transforming jackets, leather wide trousers and boxy jackets with patch pockets, color-blocking tops and coats, built on the principle of deconstruction, appeared. Among other things, the children took part in the creation of prints. The entire collection is infantile in moderation and in some places is similar to what Simon Port Jacmus showed in the fall-winter 2014 season.

We always wanted to carry positive emotions in our collections, and we like to have fun, so we love working with color and turning on our imagination. If we were inspired by depression and death, our things would look like the uniform of a scientist who went beyond the Hadron Collider. Multiculturalism, which we draw in London, is extremely important for us. You just walk down the street and see at the same time seven intertwined cultures. It affects us. In addition, the city is open to everything new and we work here easily. It is also important for us that the production of things is conscious, therefore we cooperate with the Green Pack.
