10 young and successful models with atypical appearance
At different times different types of female beauty were coming into fashion, which immediately affected the requirements for model appearance. Periods of passion for sports or, on the contrary, classical elegance, androgyny or emphasized sexuality succeeded each other, and each had its own faces. In the 2010s, there were two bright trends. On the catwalks, it is increasingly possible to see "real people" or models similar to them: with more average body proportions and looks that many would call unreleased. On the other hand, there was a request for a “special” and atypical by model standards appearance: now neither pink hair color, large ears, or 8th size clothes interfere with getting into models.
All this is intended to emphasize both the uniqueness of the model and to remind us of the beauty of human appearance in all its diversity. It is noteworthy that besides the appearance today, the character and interests of the girl are important, since hundreds of thousands of subscribers follow the life of the models in social networks. We chose ten popular models, whose appearance and image somehow stands out from the generally accepted standard of beauty.
Molly bair
Seventeen-year-old Molly never thought that her alien appearance would be in demand: the American had high cheekbones, bulging ears, large deep-set eyes, and a sharp chin. Internet users, who are not inclined to restrain themselves in expressions, regularly compare it to goblin, gremlin, demon, and even rodent - but Molly treats this with self-irony and gladly post comparisons with Joffrey Lannister. However, it was the unique facial features that brought the girl rapid success. She made her debut last season by participating immediately in respectable shows: Prada, Dior, and also the couture Chanel.
For this season, Molly has become a star. Almost none of the shows from New York to Paris went without it: Molly appeared on Chanel, Prada, Balenciaga, Fendi, Gucci, Giles, J.W. Anderson, Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli, Sacai, Kenzo, Rochas, Rick Owens, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, DKNY, Gareth Pugh, Public School, Proenza Schouler (Molly also became the face of their pre-fall 2015 collection). However, it is difficult to call a girl full or even large. Its size is the American 10-12th, which is not a plus-size, but does not at all fit into the generally accepted 87-59-87. Successful models of Indian origin do not meet today with fire. As a rule, racial diversity at shows is not that diverse: the only auditions of African descent or from Southeast Asia are held. However, this season, the picture was changed by a 27-year-old model from the north of India. Bhumiki’s modeling career began in Delhi, from where she sent her photos to European and American agencies before she was noticed. In 2013, Elite and their The Society Management in America signed a contract with it in Europe.
The first step on the big podium for her was the 2014 Dries Van Noten show. However, the managers of The Society Management, to which Kendall Jenner and Molly Bair are subscribed, have long waited for the casting directors of shows to see the Indian woman. It happened this season: Bhumiku selected for shows Alexander Wang, Gareth Pugh, Stella McCartney, Kenzo and a number of other brands. In addition, she opened the show of Indian designer Manish Arora. Casting directors noted not only her unique appearance, but also the fact that Bhumika looks at the same time as a sensual and strong woman, which for many shows turned out to be a breath of fresh air.

In the past season of prêt-à-porter hits, significantly more models of African origin than usual were involved. Among them are the well-known Poppy Okotcha, Ajak Deng, Carly Lois or Aamito Stacy Lagum. But the 19-year-old Dominican model, Lineinezi Montero, attracted the most attention. The girl, for whom this season became the debut, opened Miuccia Prada. The event for the fashion world has become noticeable and even historic: before Laineyzee on the Prada show for fifteen years, not a single dark-skinned model appeared around which there would be so much talk. Although this was preceded by the unique participation of Maliki Firs in the brand's advertising campaign in 2013.
After Prada’s show of Lineayzee Montero, they started talking: participation in the show definitely gave her the green light and after that she was accompanied with success at the castings in Paris. She showed off her new collections of Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Givenchy, Céline and Balenciaga. A symbolic gesture of liberation from fashionable canons was also the haircut of Leinei. Natural afro, which for many years was not in trend, not to mention the catwalks, immediately called the hit of the season. We should also commend the show stylists who decided to stop scratching everyone with the same brush. Do not forget that in the 70s Afro was one of the symbols of the struggle for the rights of African Americans and the destruction of the dominant Europoid appearance. Perhaps history repeats itself.
Sierra Skye
Appearance of Sierra is compared with the appearance of heroines from Renaissance paintings: wavy long hair, oval face, barely noticeable eyebrows, sensual lips, close-set eyes and a thin nose. Like Molly Bair, the girl as a child got it for an atypical appearance: in her native Pittsburgh, Sierra felt like a stranger. Despite the rejection of her appearance by others, she always dreamed of becoming a model and appearing in the campaigns of Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein, as her heroine Kate Moss. The iD magazine placed an 18-year-old girl on the cover of the spring issue dedicated to teenagers of the 2010s. In addition, she came to the recent cover of Dazed & Confused numbers about independence and new names in American culture.
Now Natalie is everywhere: in the filming of AnOther Magazine, LOVE, Vogue and W Magazine, in the campaigns of Christian Dior, Céline, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs and Prada. She goes to Saint Laurent, Chanel, Lanvin, Loewe, Paco Rabanne, Fendi, Max Mara shows - this list is very long. I must say that the red hair color, which glorified Natalie, is not her natural. The girl dyed her blond hair in 2014, right before shooting the Marc Jacobs campaign with Miley Cyrus, because she wanted to look like the Little Mermaid. Issa Lish
The exterior of a 19-year-old model is truly exotic, as is its origin: Issa Lish is half Mexican, half Japanese. However, unusual, angular and androgynous facial features these days are not a contraindication for a model career. Issa was noticed in one of the restaurants in Mexico City, but the agents had to persuade her for a long time: the offer to work as a model in Mexico at first glance did not promise anything good. In addition, Issa studied at the Faculty of Art History at this time and was going to be a sculptor. But life was different: in 2013 she entered the Saint Laurent catwalk, and then became the darling of photographer Stephen Meisel, who shot Issa for the cover of Italian Vogue.
This season, Lish could be seen at all the major shows: from the same Saint Laurent to Rochas and Mary Katrantzou. In addition, Issa became the face of the 2015 spring-summer campaign of Marc Jacobs. She was then signed to DNA Models in the States, and in Paris and London, Viva, who also have a contract with pink-haired Fernanda Hin Lin Li. However, success was waiting for her after working with Jonathan Anderson: he shot Damaris for the lookbook of the pre-autumn J.W. collection. Anderson 2015 The editors of Vogue write that Damaris is a girl with a temper from whom one cannot take his eyes off. This season, the model debuted at fashion weeks, and immediately successfully: I went on the runway with J.W. Anderson, as well as Thomas Tait, Anya Hindmarch and Fendi. This spring Vogue Italia and Garage Magazine are already working with the girl, and I want to believe that she has a great future ahead.
