Burned out: What if you got a sunburn

Although it is about sun protection we have already said a lot, all of us periodically face unpleasant consequences (raise your hand, those who burned this weekend). It is especially difficult for owners of very light, non-burning skin: painful burns on it can form within fifteen minutes after being outside in hot cloudless weather. We tell what to do if negligence has already responded with pain and inflammation.

To begin with, it is worth remembering that if your skin is very light and does not know how to sunbathe, you shouldn’t be in the sun without protection at all - you almost doom yourself to receive a burn. The danger lies not only in pain, inflammation and peeling skin, but also in increasing the risk of developing melanoma. Residents of cities where the sun doesn’t look that often, during tropical holidays, it is worthwhile to monitor these processes even more carefully: skin that is not adapted to active radiation is damaged much faster and more noticeably. Reality, however, is often against us, and if you have already suffered a burn, then you should help yourself immediately: from one episode, nothing terrible will happen, but repetitions can cause really serious consequences.

The burn is cunning because it does not appear immediately: you can stay in the open sun for a few hours and feel great, but then the adventures begin. In the exposed areas of the skin appear noticeable redness, you feel the heat, and the body temperature rises: the longer you stay in the sun, the more intense the symptoms. The skin as a natural barrier is literally destroyed, so there is a risk not only to feel unpleasant, but also to provoke infections into the body. So, before alleviating the consequences, one should not start swimming in a pool or a pond, walk along a beach in a bathing suit, and not indulge in other pleasures. At least in the first days after receiving the burn, it is better to stay in a cool ventilated room.

It is better to forget about folk remedies like dairy products forever: sour cream from the fridge, although it brings temporary relief, but in fact often clogs pores and aggravates the situation - provoking an infection with such an assistant is much easier. In order to eliminate pain and itching, it is better to use drugstore with panthenol or good old aloe-gel. Remember that the burned skin evaporates moisture very intensively, so you need to cover the affected areas with a moisturizer several times a day. The skin of the face needs intensive hydration, a cream with hyaluronic acid would be an excellent solution.

If you used care with armor-piercing components like acids or retinol before you get burned, temporarily stop, and even more so put off the scrubs: in such circumstances it is better not to allow additional mechanical damage. For a few days before redness is reduced, it is necessary to switch to washing with the most gentle means for dry skin and leave at least important steps in the care - first of all, the already mentioned moisturizing. If the burn is severe and there are blisters on the skin, do not try to get rid of them with care and do not open them: foam with panthenol will be enough to accelerate healing - just leave it on the skin or gently apply a bandage.

It also has a soothing effect after sunbathing, which is recommended to use, in fact, after exposure to the sun - and with light burns, they also quite help. If your skin is prone to them, it is worth treating it with soothing and moisturizing agents after each long stay in the sun, even when sanskrin and the right clothes still helped.
