Grace Wales Bonner: Flared and short jackets in the fashion of the 70s

Grace was born and raised in London. While studying at Central Saint Martins, the girl managed to complete an internship at Meadham Kirchoff and work in the magazine Pop and American Vogue. She is simultaneously inspired by the works of Phoebe Failo and the blaxploitation kinozhanrom from the 70s, which is characterized by stories about harsh black guys and their opposition to the world. Remember the heroes in white flared trousers, leather jackets, transparent aviator glasses and lush afro hairstyles. These can be seen in the films Tarantino, the cult "Shafta" or the criminal thriller "Foxy Brown", clearly demonstrating that there is nothing more dangerous than a woman in anger.
Taking the unisex fashion of the 70s, Grace creates men's clothes of feminine silhouettes: flowing flares, silk shirts, fitted jackets, wide-brimmed hats, beaded embroidered pants, fitted leather coats, vests and cropped jackets. One of the main things in the designer’s collection was a shortened tweed jacket resembling the canonical Chanel thing. From materials Grace prefers soft tweed boucle, suede and denim.
I am inspired by the pride and sexuality of "black culture" and the triumph of the ideals of beauty that have arisen at the junction of the 60s and 70s. While working on the collection, I thought about the port city in the south-west of Nigeria - Lagos, as well as the rough street fashion of Londoners, in particular, those who combine traditional costume with straight things.
