Vetements Treads and Dior T-shirt: What Things Will Make History
Luxury brands are going through hard times., but their successful works invariably become curious artifacts of their time. If zero could be identified by jeans on a low waist, short tops and belts with logos, then 2017 - sneakers, T-shirts with slogans and waist bags. We talk about the most iconic things of the past year - some of them can be safely bought at a discount, some of them cannot be found even on eBay.
Jeans Y-Project
It happens that the cult things of the season (or, in our case, the year) are not produced by luxury giants, but by small independent brands. So it happened with Y-Project, the brand - the brainchild of former classmate of Demny Gvasalia, Glen Martens. His horse - things transformers. His main hit is jeans, which in one motion turn into shorts.
Risk cuts did not bother either Gigi Hadid or a whole galaxy of stylists and fashion editors. The popularity of the model can be explained by the trend of fancy denim, which is easily combined with both "ugly" sneakers and socks with ankle boots. By the way, jeans shorts are still available in select stores.
Sneakers Nike x Off-White
About Off-White and its creator, Virgil Ablo, talked a lot this year. There were plenty of info leads: from a special capsule for the Russian KM20 and an interior line for IKEA to the launch of a democratic collection for millennials who don’t want and cannot pay $ 800 for Hoodie.
The real (and quite expected) excitement arose, of course, around his collaboration with Nike. Within its framework, he rethought ten cult models of sneakers - the project was named "The Ten: Icons Reconstructed by Virgil Abloh". The collection was divided into two drops: if the first could be bought only according to a complex pre-order scheme and offline during the fashion weeks, the second was available in Moscow - at TsUM and KM20, with which the designer has tender feelings. Stores staged a lottery in which it was possible to win the opportunity to purchase.
Sneakers Balenciaga Triple S
Perhaps the most discussed couple of years, which was devoted to huge analytical articles with the headlines "How Demna Gvasalia introduced fashion for ugly shoes", and memes in Instagram and fashion groups "VKontakte". The fact remains: the sneakers have become a real gold residential brand.
Access to them, of course, is limited - and the point, of course, is not only in the exorbitant price. Sales points are strictly regulated, and the number of orders that can make the stores themselves, too, after all. In Moscow, the model was presented at TsUM, SVMoscow and Aizel - and did not stay everywhere longer than a day. Aizel even decided to arrange a special lottery on the possibility of redemption.
Now sneakers can be found only in resale (plus 300 euros to the initial amount), but even when contacting resellers it’s not a fact of luck - for example, the most popular “carry over” colors (black on a white and red sole) can be found in the right size complicated. From the good news - in the season of SS-2018 and FW-2018, this pair on the "triple" sole will be reissued in additional, new colors. As they say, collect them all!
Calvin Klein Cloak
Those who follow the fashion news, still remember the collection of Raf Simons for Calvin Klein. Cossacks (already sold out almost everywhere) and shirts with contrasting pockets appeared in The xx videos and in magazines. But still the thing that received the most attention was a fur coat made of faux yellow fur wrapped in transparent plastic.
The rain coat was tried on, by the way, by Rihanna on the October cover of Elle US and Bianca Padilla on the January Turkish Harper's Bazaar. The fur coat appeared in the most beautiful shooting of the online store SSense, dedicated to Calvin Klein, and in the instagram about fakes Diet Prada. However, the fact that buyers didn’t scare the reproduction of things (as well as the price around $ 4,000) - she didn’t live in online stores before sales.
T-shirt Gosha Rubchinskiy x KM20
The performance of Gosha Rubchinsky can only be envied. During this year, he held two shows in Russia, which brought together all the foreign press, developed things in collaboration with adidas, Burberry and Steven Jones, made costumes for Renata Litvinova’s performance, released a capsule for the 20th anniversary of the “Sea” Mummy Troll album and shot in honor of this touching lookbook with daughters of Ilya Lagutenko.
The brand Gosha Rubchinskiy was one of those with whom KM20 moved who made a capsule collection for the discovery. The inscription "DAWN KM20" was placed on t-shirts, scarves and socks; black and red things put in a special corner of the store, reminiscent of football stands. T-shirts were bought almost immediately, but you can find them, for example, in the open spaces of the Market - the main platform of Russian resellers.
T-shirt Dior
A t-shirt from the first collection of Maria Grazia Curie for Dior with the inscription "We Should All Be Feminists" appeared on the catwalk back in 2016 - and was doomed to success. A huge number of shootings, covers, street-style and celebrity exits (which costs A $ AP Rocky alone) - the reality is already 2017. Things with slogans that support feminism in one way or another appeared in the mass market, in the suite, and in the clothing markets. There are those who accuse corporations of hypocrisy (and at the same time celebrities that support them) - we are glad that the world has turned to feminism. The t-shirt itself was bought immediately - and the price of $ 710 did not become a hindrance.
Vetements x Manolo Blahnik Treads
While designers continue to be inspired by tracksuits, T-shirts and jeans, separate extravagant models are becoming a hit street style report. In this field, Demna Gvasalia, who in his native Vetements can afford any flight of fantasy, has especially succeeded.
One of the most unusual things released by the suite was the Vetements boots-trousers, created in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik. Wearing such in everyday life will not be easy - see how it goes with the author of "Christmas eyebrows," blogger Taylor. In the era of sneakers lovers dress up less and less - it is not surprising that the original boots can still be freely bought in stores.
Gucci Waist Bag
Sport and comfort are what modern fashion is headed for. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that even the representatives of the “heaviest” luxury began to make huge fabric shopping bags, plastic bags, backpacks and waist bags. Gucci, with the arrival of Michele, reacts more quickly to the desires of the millennials. If a couple of years ago, all the brand loafers were grabbed (which are still being re-released in new prints and colors), this year the main hit of the brand was a belt leather bag with a brand logo. Stylists and bloggers wore it so often that Fashionista called the thing "the main it bag of London fashion week." A real achievement for the time when it bags replaced it sneakers.
T-shirt Gucci
Huge logos in the spirit of the 2000s this year are back in triumph. You must have seen the Gucci t-shirt in black and white, even if you are not at all interested in fashion - for example, on the Face rapper and pop star Olga Buzova. Another proof that the fashion industry has been moving towards simplification over the last couple of years.
Hoodie Supreme x Louis Vuitton
If we selected in this list things that were forged
and the greatest number of times, the leader would undoubtedly be the hoodie and accessories from the collaboration of the American street brand and the French fashion house. “A backpack for a husband, make it worse for a son,” it was from the instagram of producer Yana Rudkovskaya that half the country learned of the existence of the main collaboration of the year.
Items from the collection quickly went around the hands of celebrities and resellers. And yet it is precisely the joint work of such giants as Louis Vuitton and Supreme, perhaps, that is the main sign of the times. In a world where a suite is looking for any opportunity to reach a new audience, Louis Vuitton has outstripped the rest with its union.
