Video of the day: Frenchwoman became a victim of street harassment and violence

EVERY DAY ON THE INTERNET SOMETHING IS GOING ON: someone releases clips, someone launches hashtags, someone says smart (or not so) things - and we focus on the most curious.

Last weekend, a scandal involving street harassment flared up in France. The reason for the general indignation was a movie in which an unknown man hit the girl in the face after she reacted to unwanted comments on his part. The video immediately spread on social networks. According to the heroine of the movie, 22-year-old Marie Lagerr, she has repeatedly faced street harassment in Paris.

“I was very angry and mumbled“ shut up. ”I didn’t think he would hear it, but he did notice,” she recalls. After that, the man threw an ashtray from a nearby cafe in the direction of the girl, and then caught up with her and hit her. "I knew that he could hit me. I could just run away, but at that moment I no longer had any doubts. The last thing I wanted was just to turn away, and certainly I did not intend to apologize," added Marie. The video from the security cameras was given to the girl by the owner of the cafe so that she could find and punish the stranger who had attacked her. At the time of publication of the news, he had already collected about 600 thousand views, and the police opened a criminal case on "sexual harassment and violence with the use of weapons (ashtrays)."

State Secretary for Gender Equality Marlene Schiappa has already responded to the incident and said that the new law against harassment should come into force this fall. According to the document, catcollers will face a fine of between 90 and 750 euros.
