34th, spring-summer collection of Nina Donis
Design duo Nina Donis - without exaggeration, the main Russian independent brand: its history goes back to the days of “Albo-Moda”, and things can be found in the wardrobe of everyone who is interested in Russian fashion, regardless of gender. Nina Neretina and Donis Pupis know a lot about utility, versatility and unisexuality - their collections are formally female, but many items are worn by men with pleasure. In the mythology of the brand there is another important point that makes these things more than just things. Designers can be called conceptualists: a whole set of cultural and historical curtsies is sewn into the DNA of each collection. For example, the spring-summer collection of this year relied simultaneously on the new wave of the 80s, on the color solutions of the Bauhaus and on the swimmers of the 30s, and the creation of last year’s authors was inspired by the arched architecture, the cartoon about Kota in boots and The Chemical Brothers.
The new collection, whose lookbook was filmed in Cyprus’s native Donis Pupis, is a real hymn of functionality, simplicity and comfort. The whole collection from and to is a set of things from which it is possible not to get out over the years: T-shirts, shorts, dresses, pants and tops of exaggerated volumes, bright pure colors and from perfectly holding the form of dense cotton. All of them look basic, thanks to a visually simple and understandable cut, but in fact are completely self-sufficient. No extra details, except for one expressive one: on each object there are numbers painted in white - these are valid model numbers in the articles: dress No. 52, T-shirt No. 12 and so on. As the creators of the collection and the lookbook emphasize, these are primarily physically and emotionally comfortable clothes, and therefore modern. It's like that.
