New Faces: Anais, Barbara and Adrian
Look At Me examines three promising newcomers to the modeling business: the French, Anais and Adriana, and the Hungarian Barbara.
The starter model Anais Mali is half African, half Polish: her mother is from Chad, her father is from Poland. She was born in Nice, but spent most of her childhood and youth just south of Toulon. Scouts modeling agency noticed Anais when she was walking with friends in Paris. The proposal to become a model girl always describes the same phrase: "It was a real madness!". But, nevertheless, she agreed. For some time, Anais worked in France, and then decided that only a large city could give her great opportunities. Therefore, a dark-skinned French woman moved to New York, where she fell under the wing of the agency Wilhelmina. Even then, the girl had a slight but clear advantage: unlike most novice models, who, coming to the castings, were unaware of the existence of Christopher Bailey or Ricardo Tishi, Anais was well versed in fashion.
Anais Mali's favorite job is still one of her first shows - Vivienne Westwood SS 2010. On it, the girl had two outs at once.
"Terrific! Our faces were painted white!" - she admires.
In the same season, the French participated in the show L.A.M.B, Sophie Theallet, Chocheng and Mikhael Kale. Six months later, Anais appeared on the New York presentations of the autumn-winter collections of Malandrino, Cynthia Steffe, Rachel Roy, Timo Weiland, Band of Outsiders, Alexa Chung and showed La Perla underwear. During the past couture week, she caused everyone's surprise at her participation in the Bouchra Jarrar show: after all, an invitation to work at couture weeks is a definite indicator of the level of demand for the model. After shooting, the girl began to be attracted to the shootings: first she shot for Ralph by Ralph by Ralph Lauren and J. Crew, followed by an editorial in Zink, an advertising campaign for Levi's and at the end a double cover of Jones magazine.
Like many models who seem to be on a strict diet, Anais loves to eat: in her free time she is looking for new and interesting restaurants in New York. Anais is also the creator and ideologist of the French organization Yntiafrica, a fundraiser to help disadvantaged children in Africa. Therefore, building a successful modeling career will help her not only to draw attention to her activities, but also to sponsor Yntiafrica.
Interview for Italian Vogue
570 people follow her on Twitter, and W magazine records her in “Model of the Week” and interviews her. That's because the seventeen-year-old Hungarian Barbara Palvin's debut cinema was the Prada show, and then she appeared on the shows Nina Ricci, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. And even despite the fact that Barbara had her first experience as a model in middle school, the excitement around a light-skinned girl with a slightly upturned nose and unusually thick hair appeared only in 2010.
Three and a half years ago, Barbara’s current manager, Balazs, from Icon Model Management, met a girl in her native Budapest for a walk with her mother. He asked Barbara to come to the office of his agency and take some test shots. Since then, her modeling career began, which developed in spurts: in 2006, Japanese magazine Spur booked her for shooting, a couple of years Barbara, like many novice models, went to conquer Asia, and in 2009 she joined the agency IMG. Since then, her career went uphill: she starred for the Italian Vogue, appeared on the cover of the French L'Officiel and in two editorials of Jalouse magazine. And in February 2010, Barbara made her debut at the fashion show of the Prada autumn-winter feminine collection, along with newcomers Samantha Gradovill, Valeria Kelava, and Lindsay Wixon.
“I was very excited, even more worried than nervous. Walking on the catwalk is my dream. I met a lot of famous models, and it was very pleasant to work with Miuccia,” says Barbara. The Fashion Does It Better blog considers her appearance on the Prada show to be natural: "Barbara’s presence among the girls who went to the Prada show this season is quite natural: she radiates freshness and femininity more appropriate than ever to the collections of the brand and its image as a whole."
Apparently, the type of Barbara liked not only Miuccia Prada, who booked her for the Miu Miu show, but also Mark Jacobs, Giles Deacon and Peter Copping, who invited her to participate in the shows of Louis Vuitton, Giles and Nina Ricci.
At the end of the past academic year, Barbara Palvin passed the last exams: because of the constant working trips, this model was incredibly difficult, but in the end, thanks to the enormous support of her friends, she managed. Barbara admits that now she cannot imagine her life without work, which gives her the opportunity to travel around the world, meet interesting people and allows her to learn a lot about real life.

Most models need to work hard to make a real breakthrough, which means running through hundreds of castings and often hear the word "no." But the young Frenchman Adrian Saor achieved success in a matter of weeks. Last year, he went shopping, thinking about starting a business when he was met by a representative from Ford. Contact with Adrian was signed right in the mall, and a few days later he opened the Lanvin SS 2010 show, after which he appeared in the brand’s advertising campaign. Then he participated in the top ten most prestigious shows - Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Dunhill, Prada, Raf Simons, Givenchy, Tillmann Lauterbach, Tim Hamilton and Juun.J. The next two seasons for Adrian Zaora were no less successful than the debut one. He is again booked by Prada, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Lanvin and Givenchy, Raf Simons invites him to participate not only in the show of his own brand Raf Simons, but also in the Jil Sander show, in addition, he walks on the Acne, Dior, Hermes, Kris catwalks Van Assche, Yves Saint Laurent, Gaspard Yurkievich, Burberry Prorsum and John Galliano.
After weeks of fashion, invitations to take part in advertising campaigns were not long in coming: Adrian starred in the Prada and Yves Saint Laurent campaigns and the Prada lookbook. They were followed by editorials for AnOther Man, 10 Men, L'Officiel Hommes, Vogue Hommes and Dazed & Confused.
"For me, Prada campaigns are special for me. Then I was in Asia for the first time. Shooting was crazy, we worked 5 days in a row. We had a very professional team and we didn’t sleep all 5 days," Adrian tells us about his beloved work.
Adrian believes that in the modeling business it is impossible to predict what will happen to you next. Therefore, along with the work of a fashion model, he is studying in a business school. After graduation, he plans to open his own restaurant or hotel, but he hopes that he will continue to be invited to participate in shows and campaigns.
