Color trouser suit: Classics for all
We talk about trends from the podium, which can be adapted for your wardrobe for the next six months. In this issue we understand how a girl can choose a suit in a masculine style and style it according to the spirit of the times.
How it all began
By the beginning of the XIX century, men's suit was freed from lace, embroidery and other decorations. Laconic cut and quality of tailoring came to the fore. Mods dressed from tight breeches to pants, and the traditional men's outfit was a three-piece suit consisting of a camisole, a vest and trousers. If the XIX century is the period of evolution of male fashion, then the XX century is female, which began with the abolition of corsets and the borrowing of a men's suit by girls.
Women's wardrobe demanded reform, and it was produced by Coco Chanel, one of the main feminists in the history of fashion. She turned to the ideas of dandyism and practical male wardrobe. In short, Chanel "had spent her whole life and was engaged in remaking a men's suit into a female: jackets, hairstyles, ties, cuffs." In the 1930s, Marlene Dietrich continued the androgyny game. She appeared in a classic men's suit with wide shoulders and baggy trousers, a starched shirt and a beret, sabotaging the French police. Dietrich was repeatedly stopped by police in Paris, citing a law according to which women in public places were forbidden to wear men's clothes.
In the late 60s, during the formation of a practical and fashionable wardrobe, Yves Saint-Laurent returned his tuxedo to fashion. In the 70s, thanks to Helmut Newton's photographs for French Vogue, the men's tuxedo on the girls was overgrown with sexual connotations. The movie "Annie Hall" by Woody Allen comes in very handy, largely defining the fashion of the 80s. In it, Diane Keaton showed how naturally a girl's shirt, wide trousers with a high waist and even a tie with a waistcoat look on the girl. In the 80s, men's suit becomes a common thing in women's wardrobe. Girls wear a long spacious jacket with wide straight trousers, showing career ambitions on a par with men.
How to wear a suit now
Today, the suit in the men's style again acquires its former decoration. Future autumn will be relevant color options: blue, green, orange, beige, dusty pink. By the way, the greatest potential is pink. There are also costumes made of atypical fabrics: velvet and lace. It is especially interesting to observe changes in a man's suit, considering the course of modern fashion on gender ambivalence. Indicative in this regard, the collection of Alessandro Michele for Gucci. In both men's and women's collections, he includes baggy trouser suits with floral prints, and in the latest shows he demonstrates pink costumes (including from translucent lace) on models of both sexes. By the way, speaking of the materials, in Topshop Unique in the spring of 2016 it will be possible to find a trouser suit made of light pink velor.
The brands offer a variety of “bottoms” and “tops”: in the collections there are trousers-pipes, like Louis Vuitton and Akris, and wide trousers and vests from the classic three-piece suit, like EDUN and Costume National, long and cropped flares, like Stella McCartney and Prada have Bermuda shorts like Theory. Jackets we see both double-breasted overseas and fitted short ones.
Beware
The most versatile option is to choose a bright-colored suit that includes trousers-pipes and a jacket in a straight cut, half-thigh length. You can wear it according to the example of Chiara Ferrany - on a naked body in a pair with boats. However, we advise you to wear a bra-top under your suit and add sandals on a flat sole or platform to it. Considering that in a trend suits of bright colors, wear a neutral solid top or something transparent under your jacket. Regarding the shoes, the choice is great: to help loafers, blofers, platform shoes, simple slippers, as well as pointed shoes, sneakers and, of course, sneakers.
