How to make the interior more comfortable in the autumn: Designer Tips

With the onset of coolness and reduced daylight I want to go home more often, and to surround myself with warming trifles - even more. We understand how to add comfort and warmth in the apartment using textiles, lighting and small permutations.

The cooler on the street, the more sweaters and warm sweaters appear in our wardrobe - the same principle holds for apartments. Before the onset of cold weather is to prepare it in advance and get blankets and bedspreads. I love blankets from natural materials: thick cotton or some kind of non-prickly wool. If the budget allows, the curtains can also be changed seasonally. Let them hang in the summer in the summer, and in the fall they can be replaced by denser ones, as an option - with a lining, these will become an additional layer of insulation.

Lighting also plays a huge role in creating comfort, which you especially want in cold weather when daylight becomes much shorter. An excellent solution would be a floor lamp or sconce with a soft light and, of course, candles - aromatic and simple. A bright bouquet of autumn flowers, twigs, berries and dried flowers will also create the right mood: put it in a ceramic vase or pot and it will turn out very autumn.

If the cold has already come, and the heating season is not there yet, then you should think about buying a heater: it is better to choose models without a fan. Do not forget that in the autumn and winter the air in the apartment becomes very dry, so the humidifier will also come in handy.

Trends in room design are not changing as fast as in the fashion world. Best of all, thinking about changes, focus not on trends, but on the interior around, adding new textures, colors and prints to it.

With the onset of autumn, you can bring rich shades - they will help to highlight the accents. The easiest way to do this is with the help of textiles and decorative objects: compound wine, mustard, olive tones in a neutral interior will attract attention. As for textures, in the fall, you can traditionally add velvet, velor, leather, throw thick-knit blankets on the sofas, and change light curtains to thick ones — for example, from coarse wool. Summer floral prints, if desired, can be replaced by a cage and a goose foot. At the same time, the vegetative motifs, in my opinion, look appropriate, regardless of the season - now, as an option, you can simply replace the light tones with the dark ones. For inspiration, I advise you to take a look at the collection of textiles by William Morris.

It would be nice to add more evening light to the rooms: the simplest option is candles. Instead of screwing extra bulbs into the ceiling lights, rely on table lamps. Soft diffused lighting at eye level will add comfort.

We never want so much warmth and comfort, as in the fall. It is gray, damp and depressing on the street, we are moving in small rushes between the subway, parking, office and shop - and we dream that we turn the key in the lock in the evening, open the door of our apartment, and there ... Paradise! However, paradise in this story is quite a man-made, it can be disassembled into components.

When we talk about heat, it is not only and not so much the temperature of the air, but also the heat that is visual. Our eyes read it in two ways: color and texture. Warm colors are ocher and sepia in all variations: yellow, orange, red, brown, that is, about half of the spectrum. The same colors correspond to autumn-winter stinging and enveloping tastes and smells: coffee, cinnamon, cloves, mulled wine, hot pumpkin soup, roasted chestnuts.

Several gastronomic prints on the walls can increase our serotonin level even before we can make a real cup of coffee for ourselves. Our taste, visual and tactile receptors are connected more than we used to think. But beautiful autumn landscapes with rain, leaf fall and Paris are dangerous business, such pictures or paintings are suitable only for deep lyricists, for whom melancholy and light sadness are a comfortable state.

The main autumn textures - warm, rough and fleecy. For some reason, woolen curtains are still not very common here, although an ordinary rectangular panel of natural warm shades can transform the mood of an interior - that is monochromatic, that is in a cage. The cage, by the way, is extremely diverse: a simple red-and-white weave will remind you of an alpine chalet, a Scottish one - of a respectable British classic.

Then just follow the chosen direction: the similarity with the chalet can be enhanced by laying out one of the walls with a simple wood pile. For this fit living room, bedroom or a long corridor, and you have a fireplace or not, it does not matter. However, the fireplace also does not hurt. In online stores you can find minimalistic models on bioethanol - there are options from ten thousand rubles. Such a fireplace can simply be hung on a free wall as a picture, no conclusions or extracts are required. One bottle of fuel is usually enough for a few hours of gathering with friends. Do not forget the main thing: if you want to admire the fire while sitting at the table, place the "fireplace" at least 130 centimeters from the floor; 50-60 centimeters are acceptable in the sofa zone. Choose a model with one continuous long nozzle, and not with two or three point - so the flame looks more natural.

English respectable interior will cost more. But even here one can confine oneself to several recognizable objects: an “eared” chair, a thick blanket, several beautiful bottles on a dresser — and this is an autumn “warming” composition. A dresser, of course, would also be better off with a story. Real English antiques cost a lot of money, but you can search on the flea market or Avito for any old dresser. An indispensable condition - that he was from a solid wood. And if for the summer you clean the carpets, then in the fall you just need a carpet with a high pile. But perhaps the main condition for creating an enveloping atmosphere in the long autumn evenings remains lighting.

Never literate light is so important in the interior as in the fall. Pay attention to the lower and middle tiers: these are floor and table lamps, floor lamps. Expand your horizons, light sculptures made of durable plastic, which are sold in the garden departments of large construction hypermarkets: balls of different diameters (they can be grouped in two or three), cubes or other forms can be your ideal. The lower the light source is located to the floor, the softer and more intimate the light - the more that thick plastic diffuses it beautifully. Examine the walls carefully: select two or three places where it would be appropriate to place accents, and hang a small swivel lamp on a long "leg." Direct the light spot on the empty wall, on the chest of drawers below or on the bookshelves next door.

Another type of lighting fixtures, especially those relevant in the fall, are electric candles in a candlestick: they look good on a window sill, table or console in the hallway. If you manage to connect the entire lower tier of the lighting so as to turn it on with one button (somewhere to build up the wire and hide behind the sofa, somewhere to use an extension cord with a switch), then you will cease to use the overhead light at all.

I believe that natural materials are relevant in the fall: stone, natural wood, glass, marble, granite, metal; Cotton, silk, flax, leather are used as finishing. When choosing furniture, preference is given to options with clear geometric lines, beds, sofas and armchairs of classical form, without decorative elements. The comfort of the room will add details: colorful pillows or family photos in neat metal frames.

The more light there is, the better. The room should breathe, so the space, in my opinion, it is better to expand to the maximum. Add spotlights, the light of which is reflected on the mirror surfaces. Warm shades of light floor lamps will add comfort to rainy autumn evenings, and perfumes and sprays for the home, as well as candles will bring a soft soothing or pleasant invigorating scent.
