Danger Zone: Why the eye cream is not needed

Through the efforts of advertising, we are convincedThat "delicate skin around the eyes" requires a special care product. However, the question of the real need for a cream that magically removes swelling and traces of lack of sleep remains open. We decided to figure out why many of us most likely no longer need to buy a separate bank.
If the skin around the eyes is not naughty, a special cream can be safely replaced with a regular one - one that suits your skin type, smells of nothing, and also does not contain acids and retinoids.
The skin around the eyes is really the thinnest on the whole body. Kristina Zyryanova, cosmetologist at the Le Colon salon, talks about her differences from the rest of her face: a very thin epidermis, little collagen and elastin, no sebaceous glands, but there is a well-developed network of blood and lymphatic vessels. At the same time, facial expressions are also abundant, so that dryness, wrinkles, swelling and dark circles naturally appear. However, all this does not mean that you need to get another can. The skin of the face as a whole requires proper care, which implies the absence of traumatic procedures, high-quality moisturizing and protection from the sun - but for some reason, the area around the eyes has become overgrown with myths.
According to Samantha Banting, a dermatologist, the skin around the eyes is especially sensitive, which means it’s difficult to create a cream with effective ingredients that would give visible results without irritation. For daily care, she suggests choosing a moisturizer with ingredients suitable for the entire skin of the face. Zyryanova notes that the desired product will probably be found in a cosmetics bag: if the skin on the face is dry, then the usual nourishing cream will fit the area around the eyes. Be careful when you are prone to swelling, because dense textures can aggravate them. What is definitely not suitable is a matting treatment for oily skin: the area around the eyes is, by definition, drier and it only needs moisturizing.
If you look at the list of ingredients of the standard eye cream, it will be difficult to find something unique. Such products have a lighter texture, but, with rare exceptions, their composition will be almost the same as that of the basic moisturizing face cream. So, if the skin around the eyes is not capricious, a special cream can be safely replaced by a regular one - one that suits your skin type, smells of nothing, and also does not contain acids, retinoids and other active ingredients. You should also carefully approach the oils as an alternative to the cream around the eyes. They can irritate the skin, not to mention the fact that the oil can spread and cause a lot of inconvenience, getting to the mucous membrane. If the skin around the eyes is already irritated, anything can make the situation worse. Therefore, it is better to either help yourself with a small amount of a suitable moisturizer, or not to use anything.
According to Banting, the main tool for caring for the area around the eyes should be Sanskrin: she advises applying it up to the eyelash growth line. It is enough to prevent photo aging, but without it, the sense of the cream will be small. If you do not like wrinkles, UV protection for the eyes and lips should be in the first place. It is best if the product does not contain fragrances and organic filters that can irritate the eyes. We advise you to pay attention to the universal sticks with a high sun protection factor: they are suitable not only for the skin around the eyes, but also for the ears, moles and fresh tattoos.
If you came to the conclusion that a separate tool for the area around the eyes is still necessary, let us recall once again the importance of realistic expectations. Eye cream is unlikely to relieve wrinkles, bags and, especially, dark circles
It must be remembered that the care needs for different skin types may vary. If you are worried about pronounced dark circles, bags under the eyes, hypersensitivity, dryness or allergic reactions, you should make a choice in favor of a separate tool or think about consulting a cosmetologist. Plastic surgeon Michel Kue believes that even the most expensive creams and ointments, which are easy to find in the open market, still can not reduce the pigmentation under the eyes. In most cases, cosmetic procedures, in particular, chemical peels or mesotherapy, will help. If the pronounced bruises and swelling appeared due to age-related changes, Ku advises to think about surgery - provided that they do not like you, of course.
Dark circles appear for various reasons: for owners of very thin skin around the eyes, they can be part of age-related changes; in order to increase the density of this area, lipolifting is performed - transplantation of adipose tissue. Uneven pigmentation may appear due to skin diseases, hormonal changes, or excessive sun exposure. If you do not like the non-uniform color of the zone, you are recommended to add moisturizers with products that brighten the skin and contribute to the production of collagen - again on the packaging you do not need to look for “for the area around the eyes”, and the sanskrin will help fix the result.
Factors provoking the appearance of bags under the eyes, no less. They can be hereditary or appear due to a fun night, hormonal and age-related changes, water retention, irritation with cosmetics, fatigue or allergies. The cosmetologist says that sometimes "sacks" also call hernia of the eyelids, in which the subcutaneous tissue bulges out as a result of the omission and stretching of the ligaments of this zone. Serums can help with substances that enhance microcirculation: arnica, centella, vitamins PP, K, C, placenta and caffeine. It is recommended to combine such means with physical methods of exposure: cold compresses and lymphatic drainage massage. Kristina Zyryanova warns that these measures will work if the edema is due to lifestyle, and not due to more serious changes in the body: "In the case of a true hernia, therapeutic cosmetology is ineffective, and if this question is of concern, you should think about blepharoplasty. Local procedures for they are able to provide help on a regular basis, but this is not a panacea. It is necessary to review diet, sleep and rest, as well as heredity. "
If you have come to the conclusion that you still need a separate tool for the area around the eyes, we recall once again the importance of realistic expectations. Eye cream is unlikely to relieve wrinkles, bags and, especially, dark circles. At best, it will visually smooth the relief, moisturize the skin and, if necessary, cool it slightly - this is an excellent result. Is it worth all the hopes and money spent - an individual question.
