How to stop being afraid and fall in love with "ugly" cowards

Underwear - clothes, which is closest to the body. Surely you have noticed how it can affect the feeling of self-confidence. A classic case captured in cinema: a girl rushes into the bath like a bullet, locks the door, pulls off her huge dragging underpants and puts on translucent thongs instead. Most likely, she reasons like this: you cannot come to a date in an ugly "shameful" underwear - you need to urgently put on something more charged. Another question: why do ugly things appear in our wardrobe, which in no case can be shown to anyone, and beautiful things - for a special occasion?

In 1993, the British Vogue took off the young and skinny Kate Moss in a T-shirt and thong. Photoset turned out to be scandalous, because it outlined the anorexicity of the model and the trend for thinness. But something else is also important here: at this moment thongs and tanga came into fashion. So, from the mid-90s and throughout the first decade of the 2000s, at the peak of popularity remained thread-shorts - not the most comfortable, cutting between the legs, but becoming the personification of a whole era. The style raised questions for the older generation: are such panties harmful to women's health? However, young people and especially teenagers did not get out of the strings. For many, they became the first "adult" underwear, which is an important stage for 16-year-olds: sexy panties, barely covering intimate places, and bras with a push-up effect instead of heats with ponies and t-shirts. It also explains the teenagers' understandable desire to demonstrate the notorious thong sticking out from under the trousers.

Today, sales of tongs and strings are plummeting, but growing up - comfortable high-waisted briefs covering the bottom. It's about the so-called mother's or grandmother's shorts. The older generation for the most part is just such a lingerie and wears - comfortable and unassuming. High-waisted briefs, which today are perceived as retro, were worn by women throughout the middle of the 20th century. The secret of the popularity of such a style was that it elementary suited all types of female figures. Plus, he hid the fact that many women consider the most problematic area - the lower part of the abdomen and side, while emphasizing the waist. For a hundred years, women's underpants decreased in size in proportion to the length and volume of skirts and dresses - from long trousers to microstrings.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a woman could safely wear underwear with several layers of lace, frills, trimmed with bows and even marabou feathers (such clothes were created, for example, by the British fashion designer Lucy Duff Gordon), hiding all the wealth under a fluffy dress. However, with the abolition of the corsets and the appearance of things on the figure took a different laundry. Viscose (rayon), then nylon and spandex were invented by the way; Gradually, the underpants more closely adjoined to the body and became less noticeable. However, the waist of the underwear remained high until the 70s, until cotton hipsters came into fashion, covering the bottom, but opening the navel - of course, to wear flares on the hips. In the 80s, wikinis and panties appear already opening the thighs: remember the early Calvin Klein advertising campaigns and the styles of Jane Fonda’s shaping outfits. There is already close to the 90s and the notorious strings, which by the mid-2010s had lost their popularity. Why did this happen?

Recently, The New York Times noted the trend for linen comfort in the past couple of years. Girls today choose comfortable and practical underpants that cover the ass: from high-waisted retro models to men's shorts and hipsters. The trend can be called a linen normcore: after comfortable outerwear and shoes in one row for birk stock and sweat clothes, unpretentious underwear came to our wardrobe. Moreover, as noted by The New York Times, the girls began to buy clothes in the first place for themselves, and not for someone. However, this does not mean that sexy lingerie is losing its position. Rather, the fact is that eroticism has finally begun to be seen not only in lace, but also in a plain white T-shirt paired with almost male blank underwear.

Despite the growing demand for simple and comfortable underpants, there is only one problem with them - in stores there is still not enough basic, non-shy linen that is not decorated with anything and made from elastic, natural materials that are pleasant to the touch. For such cowards, for example seamless, you usually go to Uniqlo. However, for this season, the popular underwear brands, such as Intimissimi and Tezenis, began to include more and more sporty models in neutral colors in the collections. In most of the shops, you still need to wade through a mountain of leopard and fuchsia-colored laces to a dark corner, where simple underpants will be folded in a barely noticeable pile.

Growth in demand for comfortable underwear is also influenced by trends from the runways. Thus, the return of retro panties coincided with the established fashion for skirts and high-waisted trousers. In addition, it is the modest dense monochromatic pants with high waist, resembling shorts, - a thing that designers and stylists put on overt transparent things, thus avoiding vulgarity. Support the trend for comfortable underwear and celebrities. Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga perform in such underwear and often appear in it in public. Lena Dunham is shooting in support of her book in huge leopard-print shorts, as if addressing us once again: I am fine with a sense of humor, and yes, I like my body in this ridiculous underwear. Calculate how many times Lena and other heroines appeared in ridiculous shorts in the TV series "Girls", and also posted photos in them on Instagram, and it is completely impossible. Model Krissy Teigen published on social networks her photos in tight high-waisted shorts and posed for GQ in simple slips. Magazine stylists, who have long taken an interest in ugly and everyday things, often use "ugly" pants for contrast, for example, putting them on sexy Rihanna.

Immediacy is equal to sexuality: remember the fiery dance of Cameron Diaz in Charlie's Angels, and when choosing your underwear, keep in mind that it is possible to twist the booty in any situation and in any clothes. The main thing is to reconsider the strange division of things into ugly "for the home" and beautiful "on the way out" and especially the division of panties - into those for menstruation and those for sex. Underwear brands such as Me and You create funny and comfortable underpants, which are able to contend with any lace, because girls who share the values of the brand look at them and feel confident. Just take what you feel comfortable and wear without remorse, it does not matter whether it is translucent underwear or, on the contrary, basic shorts. No things should cause shame.
