Avoski, baskets and clutch boxes: 25 bags in the spring
Text: Anya Krotikova
Fashion has long been living under strict laws: microtrends replace each other every couple of weeks, and diametrically opposite tendencies coexist peacefully in one season. This is especially noticeable in accessories: designers alternate huge bags with miniature clutch-boxes and immediately show completely transparent shoppers and "Soviet" shopping bags. We tell you what models of bags will be popular this spring.
Raffia and bamboo
Bags of straw flashed everywhere last summer - then the most popular model was the round Samuji (which Zara quickly copied). This spring, the designers took on the already familiar material, but plenty played with the form - there is a classic basket like Jane Birkin, and a round bag with leather inserts, and a roomy rectangular shooper. The concept of seasonality has also disappeared: today you can carry a raffia bag with either a fluffy eco-fur coat or a classic trench coat, or with a sheepskin sheepskin coat. We are waiting for May to wear it with light dresses and a Canadian tuxedo.
Tight shaped little bags
Life hacking for those who are used to taking with them all the most necessary things at once (and eventually carrying a couple of kilograms of trash in a bag), many designers offer this spring. Only the necessary minimum of things will fit into the miniature clutch box (read: lip balm, phone, wallet and documents with keys), and the hard shape of the bag will not allow you to stuff anything extra into it. In addition to the obvious combinations with a pantsuit or a cocktail dress, this accessory will refresh the usual combo “white t-shirt plus boyfriends” and add an accent to classics like midi dresses.
Woven bags
Embroidery, feathers, sequins, pearls and other rich decor this spring from clothes moved to accessories, shoes and bags. Velvet and satin bags with fluffy tassels, ribbons and beads first appeared on expensive brands like Staud, but soon the idea was picked up by the mass market. Given the deliberate decorativeness of woven bags, we suggest playing in contrast and combining this model with voluminous jackets, worn jeans or oversized trench coats in the floor and loafers, and in a couple take a capacious shopping bag. Well, or choose minimalistic options, like Prada or Mansur Gavriel.
Avoski
Designers regularly turn to the Soviet heritage, and this spring, shopping bags came out of the shadows and undeserved oblivion - the very ones that our parents went to the market with. Besides the fact that it is a great way to take care of the environment (one such bag will save you from buying four or six plastic bags a week), mesh bags have every chance to become an alternative to the already tired shoppers. Minus - small things in them better not to add. Plus - you can put any other bag in it. Everybody released their version of the string bag this spring - from Vetements and Maison Margiela to Topshop and Bershka - but we advise you to take a closer look at the color grids of the Moscow project "Avoska Gives Hope", which provides work for the blind.
Waist Bags
Street fashion officially entered the world of fashion big. Now, any items that previously could be seen mainly in street brands (from hoodie to belt-laces) are mastered by a heavy suite and a mass market. Waist bags can be found at any vending brand, from Mango to Balenciaga. You can wear such a thing in several ways, including over the shoulder with leather jackets and a coat or as a belt over silk dresses with a floral pattern.
