The Lend a Hand Foundation has released the Liberation Handbook for women whose prison term has ended - or is coming to an end. The brochure contains five sections on the main issues facing women who recently released, such as finding housing and working, managing finances, family issues (returning parental rights or divorce), and solving psychological problems such as fighting stigma. In the book you can find legal, economic and psychological advice - for example, information, what documents are needed to contact the employment center, how to plan a budget and how to regain contact with the child after release. The handbook, which will be distributed in correctional colonies, can also be downloaded from the foundation's website.
"I remember my confusion very well: I look forward to the birth of my daughter in conditions of imprisonment, I worry about how the birth will take place, whether we will be healthy, and think about what to do when freedom does come, because I am responsible not only for myself, but also for the life and fate of her baby, ”says Svetlana Bakhmina, founder of the foundation, in the preface.“ This book should help those who are worried about the future after prison and do not know who to ask questions. There are usually a lot of them, but to find the answers while locked up, almost impossible. We are trying to fix it. "
