Trend: Sheepskin
Since the twenties and ending with the fifties of the last century, sheep skins, trimmed on one side and tanned on the other, were widely used in the manufacture of military ammunition. It was possible to wear things from sheepskin almost all year round, because, depending on the conditions, this material is able to conduct or retain heat, as well as repel or retain moisture. During the two world wars, both ordinary soldiers and those with higher ranks walked in sheepskin clothes. Images of the first female pilots who wear black and white photographs that have come down to us are wearing coarse jackets and hats made of sheepskin.

Sheepskin never entered fashion and never left it. Rather, it was needed by designers as a kind of auxiliary material. But the real excitement around sheep's skins has risen due to the efforts of Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey. For the first time in a long time, a sheepskin thing appears in the Burberry Prorsum collection in the fall of 2009: a gray sheepskin coat is sewn from it, which shortly after the show will be put on by actress Keira Knightley. After some time, Christopher Bailey presents the Burberry Prorsum autumn pre-collection with men's and women's sheepskin jackets. But clothes made of dressed sheep skin get into real must-haves after the Burberry Prorsum FW 2010 collection is shown. The show opens with Carmen Pedara in a sheepskin bomber jacket, Valeria Kelava, Frida Gustavsson, Shu Pei Keen and her a dozen models.

After the end of the fall-winter 2010 season shows, it becomes obvious that sheepskin will become one of the main trends. Short jackets like pilots appear in the 3.1 Phillip Lim, Adam, Giles, Just Cavalli and Rodarte collections. Sheepskin coats just above the knee show Barbara Bui, Donna Karan, Hermes, Marc Jacobs and Rag & Bone. Acne and Celine sew a voluminous coat from sheepskin, and Max Mara - a sheepskin coat to the floor. Paul & Joe trim the bags with this material, Kenzo ankle boots, Rodarte collars, and Pringle of Scotland shirts. Hussein Chalayan does make a sheepskin binoculars case. The mass market also copied the trend safely: Topshop jackets resemble Burberry Prorsum and Richard Krakoff, H & M's coat hints at Etro, Uniqlo is similar to Adam and Roberto Cavalli, Oasis makes real sheepskin vests, Bershka and New Look trim it with artificially equivalent shoes and accessories but it’s not worth talking about Zara.
